Requirements

  • Ability to read, understand, and explain schematics, blueprints, and/or technical manuals.
  • Possess basic math skills including ability to read and use tape measure, caliper, and micrometer to the fraction and decimal.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experienced in the use of Word, Excel and ERP (EPICOR preferred).
  • Safety and Quality minded.
  • Eight (8) years of diverse Machining experience in a metal manufacturing environment.
  • 5 years of leadership experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of ISO9000; AS9100, preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or comparable discipline, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible for all departmental operations, including CNC programming.
  • Meeting production deadlines.
  • Performance evaluations, wage increase recommendations, and appropriate disciplinary actions.
  • Overseeing equipment management, scheduling of workstations and workers, requisition of supplies, and coordination of administrative activities.
  • Producing parts and products in accordance with established safety, quality, and cost standards.
  • Day-to-day operations and direction of personnel in Machining.
  • Ensuring all department employees are adequately trained, work safely, and all hazardous conditions are eliminated.
  • Creating and maintaining a staffing schedule with a redundancy plan to ensure deadlines are met even in the event of unplanned absences.
  • Determining manpower requirements needed to meet product throughput requirements.
  • Ensuring statutory, regulatory, and environmental regulations are met.
  • Working closely with Value Stream Manager and Quality Manager to ensure quality standards and continuous improvement objectives and requirements are met.
  • Ensuring the Quality Management System is met and upheld.
  • Monitoring customer delivery or ship schedules to ensure due dates are met.
  • Managing the machining budget.
  • Monitoring performance metrics and taking appropriate action.
  • Helping design, improve, and implement procedures related to the area of responsibility.
  • Ensuring cross-departmental communication is accurate and effective.
  • Supervising and monitoring employees, including performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution.
  • Ensuring all applicable operating policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensuring production departments operate within regulatory and statutory regulations.
  • Identifying process improvements and submitting change requests.
  • Assisting with manufacturing process difficulties, i.e., tooling, drawing requirements, and interpretations.
  • Implementing and maintaining inventory control systems and procedures; safeguarding and overseeing the use of department supplies and materials.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of department inventory quantities.
  • Ensuring the department maintains a neat and clean work area.
  • Determining department tooling requirements and prioritizing job sequence for efficient and effective production.
  • Ensuring cross-training is adequate to maintain scheduling flexibility and redundancy.
  • Assisting the Value Stream Manager to ensure adequate supervision is present in the plant, including weekends and other non-traditional workdays.
  • Performing other ad hoc duties as assigned.
