About The Position

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of a manufacturing team to safely produce high-quality optical fiber products that meet customer, quality, delivery, and cost objectives. This position provides direct leadership to production employees, promotes continuous improvement, and partners closely with Engineering, Planning, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and EHS to achieve operational excellence. The Production Supervisor is expected to foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement while developing employees and driving operational performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's engineering degree or equivalent manufacturing experience.
  • 3–5 years of manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Experience supervising hourly employees in a production environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules as business needs require.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Experience in optical fiber, photonics, semiconductor, medical device, aerospace, or other high-technology manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example in promoting a strong safety culture with zero injuries as the goal.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company EHS policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Ensure employees receive required training and maintain compliance with all operating procedures.
  • Direct and coordinate daily manufacturing activities to meet production schedules and customer commitments.
  • Monitor production performance and address issues impacting safety, quality, delivery, or productivity.
  • Optimize staffing and labor utilization to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Ensure equipment is operating effectively and coordinate with Maintenance and Engineering to minimize downtime.
  • Support production scale-up activities and implementation of new manufacturing technologies.
  • Promote a “Quality First” culture throughout the operation.
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturing specifications, work instructions, and quality standards.
  • Support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and continuous quality improvements.
  • Drive reduction of scrap, rework, and process variation.
  • Supervise, coach, mentor, and develop production employees.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.
  • Manage attendance, scheduling, overtime, and staffing requirements.
