About The Position

This role is accountable for the health, safety, and well-being of employees on shift, ensuring compliance with all Company policies, safety standards, and applicable occupational health and safety legislation. The Production Supervisor will lead and supervise shift operations to achieve production, quality, cost, delivery, and downtime objectives. This includes monitoring and managing shop floor performance, providing direction, coaching, and support to employees to meet operational targets. The role also involves coordinating staffing and scheduling, conducting performance management, ensuring quality compliance, and facilitating regular shift communication meetings. Continuous improvement, problem-solving, and adherence to company policies are key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams in a fast-paced operational setting
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety principles, quality systems, and manufacturing processes
  • Proven ability to coach, motivate, develop, and hold employees accountable for performance
  • Effective problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and production reporting systems
  • Ability to work a 2-2-3 schedule consisting of 12-hour shifts
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and regularly walk production areas throughout the shift
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to occasionally climb stairs, bend, stoop, reach, and perform other physical movements required in the workplace
  • Ability to visually inspect equipment, processes, and work areas and respond to changing operational conditions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees in both office and manufacturing environments
  • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed footwear, and other required safety equipment
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Postsecondary education in Business, Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field
  • Experience in a continuous manufacturing environment
  • Experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement training or certification
  • Working knowledge of root cause analysis, corrective action methodologies, and performance metrics
  • Experience with workforce planning, scheduling, and employee development

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise shift operations to achieve production, quality, cost, delivery, and downtime objectives
  • Monitor and manage shop floor performance, providing direction, coaching, and support to employees to meet operational targets
  • Coordinate staffing and scheduling activities to ensure adequate coverage by qualified employees and address absenteeism or staffing shortages
  • Conduct performance management activities, including coaching, employee development, attendance management, and corrective action as required
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and initiate actions to address nonconforming products, processes, or systems
  • Conduct and support audits including safety, quality, standard operating procedures, process, and 5S audits, ensuring corrective actions are completed
  • Facilitate regular shift communication meetings to communicate business objectives, safety requirements, operational priorities, and performance results
  • Monitor employee training requirements and ensure employees maintain required qualifications and certifications
  • Identify and remove production constraints, improve workflow, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency
  • Support investigation and resolution of safety incidents, quality concerns, customer issues, and operational problems utilizing root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies, procedures, standards of business conduct, and applicable collective agreement provisions where applicable
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
