This role is for a Production Supervisor at the Greensboro, NC facility, which is a 226,000 sq. ft. production facility known as the manufacturing center of North Carolina. The facility offers advanced manufacturing equipment and an experienced staff to support multi-step metal fabrication for customers in the construction and heavy equipment industries. Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a steel or manufacturing environment (strongly preferred).
  • Two or four-year college degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Leadership experience required.
  • Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Speak conversational English.

  • Formal safety training (OSHA 30, NSC, etc.).

  • Understanding of manufacturing methodologies, like Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, judgement and decision making, developing group cooperation and teamwork, coping with difficulties and emergencies, high degree of organization skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise shop employees, including planning work schedules, conducting performance and salary reviews, providing feedback and guidance, administering discipline, developing strategies for performance and productivity improvement, and reviewing timesheets and time off requests.
  • Enforce safety procedures and guidelines, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and ensure personnel have appropriate training, work instruction, and tools.
  • Report safety violations and administer appropriate discipline.
  • Implement quality practices and procedures, including customer-specific requirements, and audit operator inspections to prevent errors.
  • Interview and evaluate prospective employees, and plan/coordinate training for new and existing employees.
  • Coordinate with Planning/Scheduling to set daily machine schedules and execute the work schedule with effective utilization of manpower and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot workmanship problems and supervise shop floor activities to meet quality standards and delivery dates.
  • Utilize appropriate manufacturing methodologies to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support preventive maintenance schedules with the Maintenance Department.
  • Administer employee policies, practices, procedures, and work rules, monitoring individual and department performance.
  • Assist in the resolution of internal and external customer problems/complaints.
  • Promote high employee morale and maintain high employee retention, demonstrating teamwork and collaboration.
  • Perform additional tasks and duties in specialized areas (welding, machining, shipping/receiving) as needed.
  • Maintain and utilize Epicor and MES, including report generation, time entry, job completion, error identification, labor monitoring, and idle activity monitoring.
