About The Position

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and coordination of activities of production workers for assigned work shifts. The role, plans, coordinates, and schedules tasks and operations. Ensures the production of displays, packaging and industrial boxes meet safety and quality standards in a timely fashion.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED Equivalent required; completion of two years college or more, a plus.
  • 2-3 years in manufacturing environment in a supervisory capacity.
  • Ability to read and use tape measure referencing both millimeters and inches.
  • Corrugated manufacturing a MUST and job shop experience, a plus.
  • Valid Driver's License with DMV evidence of good driving record.
  • Experience with and application of Microsoft Office tools that include, but not limited to, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to work extended hours or different shifts, as required or through the evening in off hours.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal & written required. Bilingual in Spanish/English required.
  • Experience with and application of Continuous improvement, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.
  • High energy level and detail orientation required.
  • Ability to multi-task, problem solve and prioritize in a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Strong leadership and team building skills, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities a must.

Responsibilities

  • Provides “hands-on” leadership, organizes, and directs the manufacturing and maintenance operations which ensures the most effective return on assets.
  • Drives culture of accountability and safety through clearly stated goals and objectives. Manages to stated company performance metrics such as, but not limited to Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE), throughput by means of MSF, and waste analysis.
  • Works in accordance with the labor agreement while simultaneously upholding management’s rights.
  • Works with HR and appropriate department managers on union grievances, employee discipline and overall response to issues and conditions that may affect the workforce.
  • Tracks, reports, and addresses employee attendance and tardiness in partnership with the HR department.
  • Manages, directs, and coordinates all activities related to a production shift to maximize productivity and minimize cost while maintaining safety and quality.
  • Performs the completion of tasks and projects with suitable organizational skills, priority, and effectiveness.
  • Coordinates with Scheduler and shipping department to ensure daily production requirements are achieved.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring & training employees; planning, assigning & directing work; appraising performance; rewarding & disciplining employees; addressing complaints & resolving problems.
  • Ensures all production data is gathered and reported correctly daily.
  • Ensures safety programs are implemented, enforced and training is provided on safe practices along with company policies. Provides appropriate safety procedures and reports to Safety and HR team dependent of employee – union employee, temporary, or ESOP.
  • Ensures continual improvement of productivity standards, worker safety performance in all phases of the operation.
  • Participates and when required conducts monthly Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) meetings with the Quality and Maintenance team.
  • Communicates with HR/Temp agency to request additional temporary personnel.
  • Conducts production meeting with supervisors and leads about new projects.
  • Continually improves safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes. Conducts safety tailgate meetings and pre-shift stretches.
  • Participates in assembly of the First Article, when required.
  • Provides training to leads, unionized workers and temps.
  • Performs production line flow analysis, leads on more efficient practices, and performs effective 5Y root cause analysis, when needed.
  • Monitors all Amtec transactions pertaining to production department (materials movement to the line, material consumption, material staging and material reconciliation).
  • Participates on the evaluation and cost analysis of the projects during the run and when is completed and provides feedback about ways to improve.
  • Ensures supplies and equipment are available for maximum efficiency.
  • Demonstrates effective troubleshooting and problem-solving ability as issues arise. Continually provides preventive measures to not encounter the same issue again.
  • Monitors work in progress for safety, quality, and adherence to specs.
  • Works with maintenance to ensures machines are properly maintained and preventive maintenance procedures are followed.
  • Inspects machine centers for evidence of excessive waste.
  • Checks work areas to ensure that proper housekeeping procedures are being followed. Maintains and improves housekeeping in all areas through 5S & 7S process, POUT stations, information boards, and cleaning stations.
  • Performs additional duties as requested.
