About The Position

The First Line Supervisor is responsible for the execution of the daily production plan in order to ensure a quality product is made on time by following site safety rules and philosophy. The first line supervisor will plan, direct, coordinate, and audit the day to day production activities to ensure customer and business objectives are met.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (Minimum)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Candidate must have at least 3 years Team Leadership (Supervisory) experience in a Manufacturing environment, supervising at least 10 Direct Reports
  • Must be able to pass a Background Check & Drug Test (No Exceptions)
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder (No Exceptions)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) preferred or equivalent with one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage day-to-day production activities to ensure safe, efficient, and timely execution of the production plan to include documentation of delays.
  • Execute and communicate production schedules, priorities, and status updates to meet customer and business objectives.
  • Lead daily Tier 1 meetings to communicate key information related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, quality, and other support functions to ensure operational alignment and minimize downtime.
  • Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and Axalta Way behaviors.
  • Maintain operational continuity by attending or leading departmental and cross-functional meetings as needed.
  • Effectively prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and respond to changing production demands.
  • Utilize production, safety, quality, and delivery metrics (KPIs) to monitor performance, identify trends, and drive data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead or support root cause analysis (RCA) efforts related to safety incidents, quality issues, downtime, and operational inefficiencies.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions to address performance gaps and improve overall operational effectiveness.
  • Actively participate in and support Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and 5S initiatives to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance workplace organization.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement by engaging employees in problem-solving and process optimization efforts.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and hold employees accountable to safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and development to support employee growth and engagement.
  • Identify training needs and ensure employees are properly trained and competent in assigned tasks.
  • Effectively manage employee performance, including recognition, corrective action, and development planning.
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead difficult conversations related to performance, attendance, accountability, and workplace behavior.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance team environment through effective leadership and communication.
