About The Position

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Supervisor will plan, organize, and direct all aspects of Graining, Finishing and Packaging department production and personnel. The role ensures safe and efficient operations, effective utilization of equipment and materials to produce high quality products, and achievement of budgeted objectives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • 3+ years of technical experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Superior verbal and written communication/customer service skills.
  • Excellent listening skills and problem-solving skills relative to customer inquiries.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and perform multiple tasks at once is key.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and work effectively within a team environment.
  • Ability to be proactive, take initiative, be accountable and possess a strong propensity towards change and process improvement.
  • Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs.
  • Proficiency in operating a PC with basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited college or university

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily and weekly production activities, workflow, and personnel for the Graining, Finishing, and Packaging departments.
  • Schedule and assign work to ensure customer orders are completed safely, accurately, efficiently, and on time.
  • Coordinate daily and weekly personnel resources with Fabrication, Digital/CNC, and Sample departments to meet production priorities.
  • Adapt staffing plans, work assignments, and production priorities quickly in response to schedule changes, material availability, quality concerns, or customer needs.
  • Ensure effective utilization of labor, equipment, materials, time, and semi-finished materials to achieve production objectives.
  • Maintain and verify production tracking data, daily product reports, and other operational records to support cost control, inventory accuracy, and performance visibility.
  • Communicate daily production status, constraints, and completion results to appropriate plant stakeholders.
  • Monitor and enforce safe operating practices, plant policies, and required use of personal protective equipment.
  • Ensure employees complete required safety training and actively participate in safety meetings, pre-shift inspections, behavior-based safety observations, near-miss reporting, departmental inspections, and safe-work requirements.
  • Coach employees on safe behaviors and operating procedures; provide timely reinforcement and corrective feedback.
  • Investigate safety incidents and near misses, identify root causes, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Maintain housekeeping, organization, and work-area conditions that support a safe and efficient plant environment.
  • Oversee departmental processes to ensure products meet specifications, quality standards, packaging requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Ensure completed products are packaged to prevent shipping damage and support a high-quality customer experience.
  • Train and coach employees in problem-solving methods and quality expectations.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering and Process Engineer to improve manufacturing drawings, product specifications, and processes.
  • Create, maintain, and improve standard work with involvement from operators and department leads.
  • Support productivity projects and process-improvement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce controllable costs while maintaining safety, quality, and customer service.
  • Collaborate with Procurement to maintain appropriate levels of raw materials, consumables, stock goods, tooling, safety supplies, PPE, and general shop supplies.
  • Support effective storage and handling practices that minimize damage, waste, and unnecessary material movement.
  • Provide direct supervision for approximately 12–15 production employees.
  • Communicate clear expectations and hold team members accountable for safety, quality, productivity, attendance, teamwork, and conduct.
  • Monitor employee performance; provide regular feedback, coaching, counseling, and corrective action as appropriate.
  • Conduct performance reviews and maintain accurate performance documentation.
  • Lead employee training, cross-training, and individual development plans to build capability, coverage, and skill depth across the departments.
