About The Position

The 1st Shift - Production Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and disciplined execution of daily production activities within the stamping operation at the Maumee facility. This role provides direct leadership to Team Leaders and production employees, ensuring production is executed according to plan while meeting expectations for safety, quality, delivery, efficiency, and labor utilization. The Production Supervisor enforces operational standards, responds to issues in real time, and drives consistent shift-to-shift performance to support plant goals and customer requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or leadership training preferred.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in manufacturing strongly preferred.
  • Experience with high-volume resistance welding and robotic welding in a manufacturing environment.
  • Automotive stamping or Tier I/Tier II supplier experience highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with Team Leaders, employees, leadership, and cross-functional departments.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop teams while maintaining discipline and fairness.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to respond to real-time issues efficiently.
  • Must be a self-starter with initiative, accountability, and strong follow-through.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a high-accountability automotive stamping environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and enforce all safety regulations; exercise authority to stop production in the event of unsafe parts, conditions, or behaviors.
  • Coordinate activities of employees engaged in production processes, including operators, die setters, inspectors, and material handlers.
  • Collaborate with other department supervisors to coordinate operations, material flow, staffing, and problem resolution.
  • Plan and establish work schedules, job assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals and customer requirements.
  • Inspect materials, equipment, and products to detect defects, malfunctions, or safety hazards; escalate concerns as required.
  • Observe work processes and monitor gauges, dials, monitors, sensors, and other indicators to ensure operators follow standards and equipment performs within acceptable limits.
  • Conduct employee training in equipment operation, work instructions, quality standards, and safety procedures; assign training to qualified personnel as needed.
  • Interpret work orders, blueprints, specifications, production schedules, and company policies for employees.
  • Analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, downtime reports, and other documentation to evaluate production performance and shift effectiveness.
  • Recommend and implement measures to improve safety, production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for attendance, performance, discipline, safety incidents, production output, and shift communications.
  • Ensure clean and orderly work areas through enforcement of 5S and housekeeping standards.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional departments including Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, Tool & Die, Materials, and HR.
  • Demonstrate leadership, accountability, and a commitment to consistent, fair application of expectations.
  • Ability to take direction, accept coaching, and respond positively to feedback.
  • Employee is responsible for ensuring all environmental practices are in line with job scope / position. Examples include but not limited to: proper waste disposal practices, reporting of spills, non-compliance to permit, and addressing any improper practices.
  • Employee is responsible for ensuring all human resources, ethics, and labor policies and practices are carried out in accordance with company policy and as in line with the scope of the position.
