About The Position

Shillington Box Co. is seeking a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor for its St. Louis, MO facility. This role involves leading plant employees to produce quality corrugated products safely and efficiently with minimal waste in a fast-paced environment. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Previous industrial/manufacturing supervisory experience required.
  • Must be willing to work directly in production as needed.
  • Must maintain certification in CPR/AED/First Aid and forklift operation (provided by the company).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in working with corrugated packaging equipment such as flexo folder gluers, rotary diecutters, balers, conveyors, unitizers and load formers is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain quality, efficiency, and production levels set by management and communicate these standards to the team.
  • Report on quality concerns to the Plant Manager and assist in determining quality guidelines.
  • Directly supervise all employees assigned to the shift, carrying out responsibilities in accordance with company policies and laws.
  • Train employees, plan, assign, and direct work, discipline employees, resolve conflicts, build teams, coach employees, address complaints, resolve problems, document actions, and set an example of superior behavior.
  • Establish high morale within the shift by showing fairness, consistency, and interest in employee problems, discussing with HR when appropriate.
  • Coordinate all production activity with sales, sales service, and shipping to ensure customer orders are handled properly.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance on any repairs or preventive maintenance within the department.
  • Keep upper management informed of problems or situations affecting shift performance.
  • Enforce corrective action procedures and conduct meetings with employees involving HR in disciplinary proceedings and following contractual agreements with the union.
  • Conduct weekly production/safety meetings with the shift.
  • Make decisions and communicate to avoid problems between shift changes.
  • Improve career skills by enrolling in seminars, technical courses, and related college courses.
  • Implement, maintain, and support all company policies and procedures, safety program, LEAN program, and good housekeeping.
  • Schedule production machines in the most effective and efficient ways possible.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
