About The Position

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the safe manufacture of company products, ensuring all quality and productivity requirements are met in the most cost-effective manner. This role may supervise multiple functions and/or shifts, typically through shift/department leads. Production Supervisor positions are responsible for a lesser span of control and/or require a lesser level of demonstrated expertise in manufacturing and process skills than an Area or Section Manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one to three years of industrial supervisory or similar leadership experience.
  • Minimum Associates degree in Management, Engineering or related disciplines.
  • Able to meet deadlines and be accountable for quality/quantity.
  • Able to work flexible hours with a history of dependability as demonstrated with strong attendance record.
  • Comfortable using a team approach to problem solving.
  • Have strong sense of urgency.
  • Individual must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors.
  • The ability to handle high stress associated with high activity with tight deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • B.S. degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Equivalent background considered (minimum of five years casting operations experience with progressive responsibility).

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective supervision and coaching to assigned employees to achieve required quality and production goals while maintaining non-union status.
  • Maintain department records and inventories.
  • Manage the movement of product through the production area, knowing the product's status in the process at all times.
  • Organize work for smooth operations.
  • Ensure standard operating procedures and engineering procedures are current, accurate, and that all work is done in compliance to ensure maximum quality.
  • Monitor the operations safety program and ensure all employees comply with safety regulations.
  • Ensure the operations department's high standard of housekeeping is met.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all production processes and materials.
  • Work with employees to resolve technical and personnel problems.
  • Schedule employees to effectively meet production needs and ensure vacation and other time off consistent with plant policies.
  • Assist in candidate selection as requested.
  • Troubleshoot and provide cost-effective resolutions to production problems.
  • Communicate to employees all issues that affect the plant.
  • Provide the shift-to-shift communication link to keep all team members working toward the same goals.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere.
  • Perform other duties as determined by the area manager.
  • Fulfill any additional responsibilities as required or assigned.
