About The Position

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading daily operations across assembly, machining, and fabrication departments within a smallwares manufacturing environment. This role ensures production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met while driving continuous improvement, workforce development, and operational efficiency. They develop employees by hiring for open positions, preparing training plans, verifying training was effective, and motivating employees through touchpoints, challenging work, and on-going feedback.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment (metal fabrication, machining, or assembly preferred).
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Progressive production leadership experience, preferably in metals forming, sheet metal fabrication, or mechanical/electrical assembly.
  • Working knowledge of fabrication, machining, and assembly processes.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies (5S, Six Sigma).
  • Ability to analyze data and manage performance metrics.
  • Excellent problem-solving and fact-based decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong planning and organization skills.
  • Ability to work independently and consistently drive results.
  • Ability to lead teams through change, encourage new ideas, and implement process improvements.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and creating a safety-first culture.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of assembly, machine operators, and fabrication teams to meet daily production schedules.
  • Responsible for executing productivity goals by structuring labor teams and production cells to meet planned targets, regularly reviewing productivity metrics, and taking corrective action as needed.
  • Monitor workflow, staffing, and equipment utilization to ensure efficient operations.
  • Address production issues in real time to minimize downtime and maintain output.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Kaizen, 5S) to increase productivity, reduce waste, and improve process flow.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, cycle time reduction, and quality enhancement.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to implement process improvements.
  • Support process improvement initiatives by completing assigned projects, tracking and reporting progress, and completing all required documentation and records.
  • Ensure all products meet company and customer quality standards.
  • Work closely with the Quality team to investigate root causes of defects and implement corrective actions.
  • Promote a culture of quality ownership across all departments.
  • Manage a diverse team by setting clear goals and expectations and handling or resolving minor complaints or conflicts.
  • Train, coach, and develop team members to build a flexible, cross-trained workforce.
  • Evaluate employee performance and provide regular feedback and development plans.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and safety-focused work environment.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as throughput, efficiency, quality, scrap, and on-time delivery.
  • Use data to drive decision-making and improve operational performance.
  • Report on production status, issues, and improvements to leadership.
  • Enforce all safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Ensure a safe work environment by reviewing and reinforcing safe work practices, investigating near misses and incidents, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented and completed.
  • Perform other duties or responsibilities as requested or required.
