About The Position

The Neil Jones Food Company is seeking a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor for their Northwest Packing plant in Vancouver, WA. This role is responsible for supervising personnel in production (juice and cannery) and other functional areas. The supervisor will oversee day-to-day operational functions, ensuring accuracy, continuous flow, quality assurance, productivity, continuous improvement, and departmental achievement towards established goals and deadlines. The company has been providing high-quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years and operates three production facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing operations, management, environmental science, or related field; or, any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the key responsibilities of the position.
  • 3 years’ relevant production work experience in the manufacturing industry; food processing experience required.
  • 1 years’ experience supervising a large group of employees, preferably in a union environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check including employment and educational verification, and credit screen, and to work extended schedule, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early November.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises production personnel and provides training in the operation of using various methods, tools, equipment and technology to achieve 100% accuracy in yield control.
  • Coordinates changeovers with Shift Manager.
  • Reviews operations and confers with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems to ensure plant operates at optimum efficiency.
  • Monitors production output against standards for units produced, product quality, labor cost, employee safety, raw material yields and cost control in conformance with established standards.
  • Monitors production lines for correct machine settings for optimum performance while conforming to product Manufacturing Standard Practices (MSPs).
