Requirements

  • Previous Supervisory Experience a plus
  • Supervisory skills developed through leading small teams required.
  • Manufacturing hands-on experience
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Organizational ability.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collectively.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to reach, manipulate, handle, and hold material.
  • Frequent use of vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and spatial relationship.
  • Frequent use of hearing ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • Frequent use of speaking ability to express or exchange ideas, communicate detailed information, or convey instructions.
  • Frequent lifting of 5 or 10 pounds, with occasional lifting to 35 pounds.
  • Exposure to manufacturing shop floor, requiring use of Safety Glasses.
  • Exposure to excess noise levels, necessitating the use of Hearing Protection.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise production processes within assigned area.
  • Champion & ensure utilization of Lean Manufacturing tools & practices throughout dept at all levels.
  • Utilize both new and existing ERP tools & processes for maximizing production efficiencies & effectiveness.
  • Ensure a culture of continual Improvement within dept.
  • Accountable for ensuring all training requirements, certifications, and employee development objectives are met for dept Leads and staff.
  • Provide leadership, support, and performance feedback to Orion team members as needed for achieving dept. & personal objectives.
  • Hire production floor staff that fit Orion’s Mission & Values to achieve company & department accountabilities.
  • Effectively coordinate, implement, and monitor corrective/preventative actions to resolve performance problems quickly.
  • Ensure that safe working conditions are provided for all staff members and Program Participants
  • Lead by example and exhibit behaviors consistent with Orion culture.
  • Work schedules and Paid Time Off (PTO), Performance reviews, Disciplinary Actions, Timecard Approval
  • Monitor employee ERP transactions and paperwork documentation to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain and enforce company policies and procedures per the Employee Handbook
  • Organize & Supervise production floor activities/processes to achieve schedule due dates, quality requirements, on time delivery, productivity objectives, and other dept. KPI’s as assigned.
  • Regularly report and communicate openly to management & internal staff on dept performance.
  • Coordinate resolution of production problems.
  • Coordinate, and as needed, improve internal workflow between departments.
  • Ensure no silos and no single points of failure regarding dept. staff skills & abilities.
  • Ensure cross-training of department employees to enable seamless movement of staff where needed.
  • Directly manage production floor employee time and attendance.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to management on new tools & equipment as needed for meeting projected growth, increasing productivity, efficiency & quality, or meeting customer capability expectations & requirements.

  • Provide supervision and guidance to Mentors on Program Participants work assignments.
  • Ensure timely Mentor feedback to Program Participants and case managers on performance issues (including completion of Mentor Weekly evaluations to goal).

  • Actively engage with T&E on creating weekly Program Participant Mentor assignments and schedules
