About The Position

Quantum Fuel Systems is seeking a Production Supervisor for the 2nd shift (2:00 PM - 10:30 PM) at their Lake Forest, CA headquarters. This is a full-time, non-exempt position. The company is looking for a leader who commands respect, drives performance, and maintains high standards through discipline and clarity. This role requires an authoritative presence, a non-negotiable stance on standards (5S, safety, output), decisiveness under pressure, comfort with difficult conversations, and a data-driven approach to operations. The supervisor will be responsible for owning the production floor, ensuring standards are met with zero tolerance for preventable failures.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in a production supervisor role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of holding a team to high standards, not just setting them.
  • Deep knowledge of 5S safety principles and how to implement them effectively on a production floor.
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to interpret data and make fast, sound decisions.
  • Proficient in production tracking software and MS Office.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle; occasional local travel required.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime with the team when production demands it.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  • ASME Y14.5 drawing reading proficiency.
  • Forklift certification and/or automotive mechanic experience.
  • QS9000 knowledge and working experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of production workers, setting expectations and holding them accountable.
  • Drive daily, weekly, and monthly production targets with zero tolerance for preventable failures.
  • Enforce 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) consistently.
  • Conduct safety audits, address hazards immediately, and maintain a culture where safety is non-negotiable.
  • Manage shift communications, including production logs, KPI tracking, and updates to management.
  • Oversee workforce training to ensure employees know and perform their roles properly.
  • Coordinate with maintenance to keep equipment running and minimize downtime.
  • Implement company Quality Assurance Procedures and Departmental Work Instructions precisely.
