About The Position

Avery Dennison is seeking a Team Supervisor who is ready to lead themselves, others, and the business by fostering a culture of excellence and safety. As a key member of the Plant Leadership Team (PLT), you won't just manage workflows—you will act as a change-agent and role model, driving the "Lean" manufacturing practices and continuous improvement efforts that keep us at the top of our game. In this role, you provide leadership and direction for all Safety, Quality, Service, Productivity, and Cost Reduction objectives within your assigned area. You will be expected to Display Agility by adapting quickly to new information and Champion Collaboration by working across functional areas to resolve problems and develop improved manufacturing processes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in production manufacturing supervision.
  • Prior experience in chemical manufacturing or related process-heavy industries (e.g., coatings, adhesives, specialty chemicals) is required.
  • Familiarity with chemical processing equipment, mixing/blending operations, and fluid dynamics is highly desirable.
  • Current Forklift certification training and the ability to acquire any necessary licensures for the facility.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to analyze production data and operational budgets.
  • Strong ability to lead, coach, and develop a diverse team, demonstrating a "Team Before Self" mindset.
  • Ability to reach, bend, twist, and climb; ability to lift materials over 50 lbs. frequently.
  • Must possess the manual dexterity to operate tools, machinery, and forklifts.
  • Capability to work in extreme temperatures or weather conditions and safely handle hazardous chemicals while following rigorous specialized safety protocols.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as Chemical Engineering or Industrial Engineering is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Drive execution of site improvement plans, ensuring priorities and accountabilities are clear for your team despite any obstacles.
  • Implement Enterprise Lean Sigma (ELS) operating principles to reduce manufacturing waste, improve process efficiency, and maximize "Gallons Per Man Hour" (GPMH) metrics.
  • Oversee daily production schedules, monitor work progress, and alter schedules as needed to meet unforeseen conditions and ensure maximum capacity.
  • Attract, retain, and develop diverse talent, providing regular feedback through our Global Performance Management System (GPS).
  • Identify learning objectives and select instructional methodologies to train team leaders and employees, reinforcing a culture of high-quality work.
  • Promote the Corporation’s Code of Business Ethics and Values while resolving employee relations issues and enforcing organizational policies.
  • Lead monthly safety meetings and daily huddles to ensure a safety-conscious environment where all employees consistently work in a safe manner.
  • Eliminate hazardous situations by investigating near-accidents and ensuring strict adherence to federal, state, and local safety regulations (OSHA, EPA) regarding chemical handling and hazardous materials.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards and oversee facility cleanliness to ensure a safe and productive working environment.
