About The Position

The Production Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day manufacturing operations during a 12-hour shift, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role leads production teams to achieve performance goals related to safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost while fostering employee engagement and continuous improvement. The supervisor provides direction to operators and technicians, drives accountability, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to resolve operational challenges and improve overall manufacturing performance. This is a fixed 12-hour shift position operating on a 4-3-3-4 schedule. Shifts do not rotate between days and nights. Once assigned to a shift, employees remain on that shift.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required, with experience in manufacturing operations.
  • 2+ years of manufacturing operations, production, engineering, quality, or continuous improvement experience.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience supervising production teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Data analysis skills to chart and interpret data to make decisions / understand relationships.
  • Excellent people skills and the ability to interact effectively with a diverse employee group across many levels of management.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office tools, electronic document management and ERP systems.
  • Experience using manufacturing metrics, dashboards, and data analysis tools to drive operational decision-making and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in high-volume, advanced manufacturing environments such as solar, semiconductor, electronics, aerospace, or advanced materials production is preferred.
  • Experience supervising manufacturing operations in assembly, machining, advanced materials, solar, semiconductor, electronics, aerospace, or other high-volume production environments.
  • Experience leading Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Green Belt certification preferred.
  • SAP, MES, or other manufacturing ERP system experience.

Responsibilities

  • Leads shift operations for one or more manufacturing departments to achieve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost objectives.
  • Directly supervises production employees, providing coaching, direction, performance feedback, and accountability.
  • Collaborates with engineering, quality, maintenance, and supply chain teams to support operational performance and resolve production issues.
  • Drives execution of production schedules while adapting to changing business priorities, equipment conditions, and workforce needs.
  • Supports continuous improvement, employee development, and operational excellence initiatives across the manufacturing organization.
  • Drive department strategies based on plant objectives and provide guidance and direction for the successful implementation of those plans.
  • Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) including safety, quality, yield, throughput, downtime, scrap, labor efficiency, and schedule attainment.
  • Manage shift operations across assigned production departments to achieve production, quality, safety, and delivery targets.
  • Lead daily cross-functional production meetings to communicate priorities, review performance, and resolve operational issues.
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to resolve quality, performance, and equipment-related issues and drive sustainable corrective actions.
  • Participates or leads cost reduction projects to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Lead and support plant change management initiatives, ensuring successful implementation and adoption of new processes, equipment, and procedures.
  • Provides training to employees as needed on new processes, procedures, or equipment.
  • Communicate clear priorities and expectations to maintain employee engagement and operational focus.
  • Create and maintain positive, motivating employee relations aligned with corporate and business values.
  • Sustain open communications with employees both one-on-one and in group forums.
  • Maintain and implement all required safety regulations and housekeeping standards on a consistent basis.
  • Lead or participate in root cause investigations and corrective actions related to manufacturing issues impacting product quality, process performance, safety, or productivity.
  • Support the ISO 9000 and AS9100 standards.
  • Attends and participates in necessary plant meetings.
