About The Position

The Production Supervisor is responsible for supporting and fostering a safety culture with a safety-first mindset. This role involves assessing facility goals and expectations against performance standards, developing corrective action plans, and managing leading indicator efforts such as safe work observations, 5S, and hazard recognition. The supervisor will hold employees accountable for safety policies before and after incidents, supervise daily production activities including training, planning, and assigning work, and evaluate employee performance. Key responsibilities include promoting safety, quality, and teamwork, resolving conflicts, and leading by example. Effective communication with all levels of staff, customers, and vendors is essential. The role requires ensuring compliance with safety and quality programs, working with minimal supervision, delegating tasks, and seeking support when needed. Maintaining documentation, reports, and time approvals, performing random inspections of quality and safety policies, and identifying system gaps are also crucial. The supervisor must ensure employees complete accurate paperwork for downtime, runtime, and setup times, and audit reporting systems for correct data entry. Monitoring raw materials and completing approval documentation for any spec substitutions are also part of the role. Physical requirements include continuous seeing, standing, walking, talking, hearing/listening, and frequent lifting up to 50lbs. Other duties assigned by the leadership team will also be performed.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
2+ years of supervisory and training experience.
Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills.

Packaging or printing industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Support and foster the safety culture, safety first mindset.
Assess facility goals and expectations against performance standards and develop corrective action plans to close gaps.
Manage leading indicator efforts including safe work observation process, 5S, hazard recognition and controls.
Hold employees accountable prior to incident, and if an incident occurs for failure to follow safety policies.
Supervise employees in the daily production, to include hands-on training, planning, assigning, and directing work.
Evaluate employee performance; reward and discipline employees; promote safety, quality production and teamwork; and resolve conflicts.
Lead and motivate employees by setting an example of superior behavior, attitude and performance to work efficiently and effectively.
Effectively communicate operational information in both oral and written format at all levels: hourly employees, other supervisors, plant management, office personnel, and outside customers and vendors.
Actively promote and ensure compliance with safety, quality and other programs and initiatives utilized within the organization.
Work with minimum supervision, delegate, and evaluate challenges to seek out support when needed.
Maintain necessary documentation, reports, and time approvals for direct reports.
Perform random inspections of all quality and safety policies and procedures.
Identify the gaps that need to be addressed to ensure our systems are effective.
Ensure employees complete appropriate paperwork to include all downtime, runtime and setup times, documentation for production and quality purposes.
Audit reporting systems to ensure the employees have correct data entered for any analysis that may be performed for production and waste accountability.
Monitor raw materials to ensure the proper raw materials are being used per customer specs, if a substitution is required, complete approval documentation before converting specs.
Perform any other duties assigned by the leadership team.
