Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Three to five years' experience in production environment in a leadership role, preferably in plastics production.
  • Combined experience may be considered

Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Production Manager and is responsible for safety, quality, and manufacturing on assigned shift.
  • Supervising and training Production Personnel and supporting manufacturing of quality product to meet the customer's needs.
  • Ensures the safety of all shift employees by checking the production floor for safety/housekeeping hazards throughout the shift and addressing issues immediately.
  • Completes incident reports thoroughly, timely and accurately. Conducts preliminary investigations on safety incidents.
  • Oversees required training on selected safety topics.
  • Sets production goals for shift based on overall Plant goals; achieves/exceeds production goals and ensures that all shift employees understand and work towards achieving production goals.
  • Reviews product quality throughout shift by communicating with Quality Auditors and Technicians.
  • Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned shift employees. Conducts performance appraisals; rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems.
  • Prepares staffing plans to ensure adequate coverage on all machines for scheduled production.
  • Reviews production schedule utilizes labor efficiently to achieve optimal operating efficiencies.
  • Motivates and coaches' employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback.
  • Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed.
  • Delegates work activities to the proper shift personnel to efficiently manage the shift.
  • Ensures the machines run according to the instructions/specifications on the production schedule, and process specifications.
