Production Supervisor

Northwood Space•Los Angeles, CA
•$96,000 - $120,000

About The Position

Northwood is a modern space infrastructure company building a global network of phased-array ground stations for satellite communications. The Production Supervisor will lead integration technicians building, integrating, and testing parabolic and phased-array antenna systems for ground-based satellite communications. The role combines hands-on technical expertise with accountability for team performance, build quality, safety, and production execution. As Northwood moves from development builds to repeatable production, the Production Supervisor will work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to establish consistent assembly processes, resolve build challenges, and develop a skilled technician team. The position also coordinates technician support for domestic and international ground station installations and deployments, with travel as needed. Applicants who need a reasonable accommodation during the application or interview process may request one. U.S. Government space technology export regulations apply; candidates must meet the stated citizenship, residency, protected-individual, or authorization eligibility requirements. Northwood Space is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

  • At least 2 years leading technicians or production teams as a supervisor, team lead, or equivalent, including work allocation, training, and performance feedback.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and technical specifications and guide others in applying them.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, torque tools, fasteners, and precision measurement equipment, with strong attention to alignment, fit, and workmanship.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot assembly issues, coordinate across technical teams, and manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced hardware development or production environment.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed to support hardware installation, integration, and team activities.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations to conform with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including ITAR.

  • Experience transitioning complex hardware from prototype development to repeatable production, including establishing standard work and improving throughput.
  • Experience with antenna systems, RF hardware, satellite communications equipment, or similarly complex aerospace or electromechanical products.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing quality systems, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Technical training, trade school education, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Familiarity with ERP, MES, or digital work instruction systems for production management and build traceability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily integration technician activities and assign work according to production priorities, material availability, and team capacity to meet quality and delivery requirements.
  • Provide hands-on guidance for mechanical and electromechanical assembly, precision alignment, structural integration, and verification of antenna systems.
  • Hire, train, coach, and develop technicians, setting expectations for workmanship, productivity, safety, and accountability.
  • Partner with Engineering and Quality to troubleshoot build issues, resolve nonconformances, and convert prototype lessons into standardized work instructions and repeatable assembly processes.
  • Track build progress, production output, and quality trends; communicate risks and coordinate with Supply Chain and production planning to address shortages and other blockers.
  • Maintain safe, organized work areas and accurate build records.
  • Coordinate technician support for domestic and international ground station installations and deployments.
