About The Position

This position is located in Minneapolis, MN and has responsibility for fostering a safe work environment by demonstrating integrity, trust and ethical conduct at all times. Has daily responsibility for operations (All value-added activities) as well as all supporting departments. This position is 2nd Shift (3:00 PM - 1:00 AM) Monday through Thursday.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-8 years of professional experience, which includes supervisory responsibility in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experienced user of ERP, warehouse management system, Microsoft Office software suite required
  • Strong lean manufacturing experience especially in continuous improvement, elimination of waste, 5S, Kaizen events, and visual management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's or other advanced degree preferred in Engineering, Chemical, Biology, Business related field of study preferred.
  • Experience with web handling and coating equipment, pressure-sensitive adhesives, labeling, or paper industries highly preferred; slitting/cutting/separating department experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that all employees adhere to work rules and safety policies. Apply all safety regulations that meet OSHA and Mactac safety guidelines. Conducts incident investigations and ensures housekeeping standards are maintained.
  • Establishes a strong presence on the floor to set and communicate expectations, standards, and evaluate results so all employees understand expectations.
  • Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with adherence to company policies, work rules, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include overseeing training requirements; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance when applicable; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; leading employee engagement activities and volunteerism; and ensuring timecards are accurate and approved on a timely basis.
  • Leads/ coaches and provides overall direction to Leads and Operators to safely produce a quality product in the most efficient manner possible.
  • Supports facility by ensuring all departments are properly staffed with qualified employees, including administration of time off (Vacation/Personal Time) and schedules equipment against staffing requirements.
  • Reviews production schedules to ensure the schedules can be achieved and are based on the priorities of maximizing production effectiveness and providing good customer service.
  • Focuses on employee development by conducting training sessions (safety, SOPs, housekeeping). Coaches the machine problem troubleshooting process to develop employees to be self-sufficient in troubleshooting and part of the decision-making processes.
  • Responsible for reporting daily shift performance to the appropriate Dept. Manager against established KPI's for items such as safety, quality, productivity, service, employee feedback, machinery, process, and facility issues.
  • Responsible for department projects to ensure overall effectiveness and successful implementation.
  • Maintains and keeps an adequate inventory level of general Plant supplies. Monitors and analyzes fill rate efficiencies such as products picked, packed, shipped, and meeting the ship date. Initiates corrections in cooperation with and/or at the direction of the Department Manager and technical support personnel.
  • Serve as a technical resource to help formulate, monitor, and enforce goals of the area. This includes providing performance feedback, SOP implementation, problem solving and ensuring an atmosphere that fosters continuous improvement in a team environment.
  • Communicates company messages to all employees; collects and responds to questions and concerns.
  • Acts as the first point of contact for employee issues and concerns and supports all Federal & State employment laws. As needed, consults with and utilizes the Human Resources Department.
  • Will have access and need to use the payroll processing system to help ensure all punches are accurate and answer time and attendance questions.
  • Travels as required - about 5% of the time.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned and regular attendance is required.
