About The Position

Tamarack Foods is looking to hire a full-time Production Supervisor. This individual will work closely with all departments and peers to establish and enforce process methods that improve operational effectiveness while ensuring the safety of all employees and product and adherence to quality and regulatory (GMP's, SOP's, HACCP, USDA) standards while minimizing operating costs. This individual will create an environment of respect and responsibility through professional communication, accountability, budget consciousness, team work, continuous improvement, quality, and safety.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of food processing GMP's and technology required.
  • Minimum 5 years food processing/manufacturing experience required, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • The ability to work with groups of people with varying levels of education, expertise and backgrounds.
  • Ability to achieve results through others.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be self-motivated and a self-starter.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and supervision for the process operation and associated personnel.
  • Effectively motivate, train and communicate with their assigned shift teams to assure superior levels of safety, reliability, sanitation, and quality.
  • Ensure individual and team levels of performance meet or exceed goals and expectations on a daily basis.
  • Develop an expert knowledge of the production process and all associated equipment.
  • Be able to analytically and systematically troubleshoot manufacturing issues and develop the team to be self-directed in the same activities.
  • Reinforce sense of urgency during production runs and periods of machine downtime.
  • Effectively communicate issues to maintenance personnel and the management team in a timely manner.
  • Establish training procedures and processes that provide strategic action plans to improve employee job knowledge and skills.
  • Ensure that all applicable company policies and procedures are followed and the quality of finished products meet specifications by setting standards/expectations for all production functions, adherence to prescribed operating procedures, and assuring that all employees maintain vigilance concerning product quality, lot tracking and trace-ability.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts with project teams that solve problems and improve safety, quality, machine reliability, production efficiency and reduce waste.
  • In coordination with the Production Department Manager and Supply Chain Manager, schedule production to maximize product quality, production efficiency, and minimize operating costs.
  • Monitor cleaning results to assure that daily sanitation is executed in accordance with established guidelines and results are acceptable to USDA.
  • Ability to perform and react well under pressure.
  • Manages competing demands and changes approach or method to best fit the situation.
  • Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position.
  • Accepts responsibility for own actions and follows through on commitments.
  • Review and approve department payroll in a timely manner.
  • Provide absentee coverage for other Production Group Managers as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
