About The Position

Tenneco is seeking a Production Supervisor for their Frankfort, Indiana plant, responsible for supervising either the 2nd or 3rd shift. This role reports to the Value Stream Manager and directly supervises 40-50 employees. The Production Supervisor is tasked with ensuring a safe work environment, driving quality improvements, developing a qualified workforce, and reducing operating costs, inventories, and lead times through continuous improvement initiatives. Requirements

  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports for business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers.
  • Familiarity with customer and company part #'s, blueprints and drawings.
  • Proficiency and solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, and other data collection systems.
  • Must be detail and quality oriented.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent attendance is required.
  • Working scheduled overtime along with shift team members is required.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in training to produce a quality product/services, uses preventative measures to ensure customer requirements and company standards are met.
  • Complies with legal and other requirements to avoid injury and/or ill health to themselves and others.
  • Understands preventative measures and creates a safe and healthy environment by identifying potential emergency situations and reporting all incidents to supervisor/manager.
  • Adheres to the facility’s quality, environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures.
  • Plans, assigns, and directs work; appraises performance; rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems.
  • Works closely with the Supply Chain Department and previous shift supervisors in scheduling and monitoring the flow of quality production parts from start to finish.
  • Ensures production teams are performing work in conformance with Work Instructions.
  • Interprets specifications and job orders to employees and assigns duties.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Coordinates and completes an accurate and thorough production report for the entire shift.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals.
  • Resolves employee problems or submits unsettled problems to Operations Manager.
  • Initiates contact for assistance with emergency maintenance, engineering, quality, or other problems.
  • Completes necessary work orders for maintenance work.
  • Approves time-cards and overtime.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments and specific projects.
  • Works with the Production team on the monthly inventory and the annual physical inventory.
  • Works scheduled overtime along with shift team members.
  • Champions the 5S process and ensures standards are maintained for their area of responsibility.
