About The Position

The Production Supervisor (PS) is responsible for overseeing Feeding South Florida’s® efficient and timely volunteer-driven production activities, including food sorting, packing, and distribution support. This role includes supervising a Production Coordinator, coordinating and scheduling volunteer opportunities, ensuring a positive volunteer experience, and maintaining strong interdepartmental collaboration. The SPC works closely with the warehouse team to coordinate daily activities, ensure product availability for packing and distribution, and support the smooth flow of food throughout the facility. Reporting to the Allocation Manager, the PS oversees the workflow of volunteers and ensures compliance with policies and guidelines set by Feeding South Florida, Feeding America, the Florida Department of Agriculture, and the Department of Health. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to food safety and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (college or vocational training preferred).
  • Supervisory/Management experience preferred.
  • 2 year’s experience in operations/production, manufacturing or order fulfillment.
  • 2 year’s experience using inventory management system or other warehouse application.
  • Excellent customer service and communications skills, including verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and to work independently with minimum supervision,
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and responsibilities, while simultaneously maintaining composure and ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and deadlines.
  • Strong computer and data entry skills.
  • Ability to ensure policies and guidelines are met.
  • Ability to take initiative and see projects through to completion.
  • Working knowledge of MS Suite; Excel, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support the execution of production activities, ensuring effective communication, interdepartmental collaboration, and timely resolution of operational challenges.
  • Supervise the Production Coordinator, ensuring adherence to SOPs, program compliance, and consistent communication through daily huddles and team meetings.
  • Plan, lead, and oversee volunteer activities including food sorting, packing, and special program builds (e.g., senior grocery boxes, kids’ backpack programs), ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and minimal waste.
  • Collaborate closely with the warehouse team to ensure product availability, proper allocation, and the efficient flow of goods throughout production and distribution areas.
  • Monitor and maintain continuous workflow by coordinating product movement, keeping workstations stocked, and ensuring proper pallet tracking and organization.
  • Process production and outbound inventory using FSF’s Warehouse Operating System, including labeling, scanning, and accurate product tracking.
  • Track and analyze program data to identify trends, service gaps, and performance metrics; provide regular reports to leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety standards and organizational policies, including proper handling, labeling, storage, safety and sanitation practices.
  • Train and educate volunteers on food safety, production processes, and FSF guidelines while fostering a positive and engaging experience. This may include hosting the introduction session and closing session with the volunteers.
  • Assist Allocation Manager in contacting agencies and programs in the event of any challenges with their orders or deliveries on Saturday mornings.
  • Oversee inventory usage for production activities, including verifying product availability prior to builds and identifying items suitable for specialized programs.
  • Manage consumables and materials (e.g., boxes, bins) to prevent operational delays or bottlenecks.
  • Ensure accurate completion of all required documentation and shift reports.
  • Support waste management processes, including tracking cardboard and maintaining proper use of equipment such as compactors.
  • Assist with product recalls by reviewing notices and supporting proper execution of recall procedures.
  • Support the planning and execution of volunteer events and collaborate with allocation and warehouse teams as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
