About The Position

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the production department, ensuring that production orders and schedules are met efficiently and effectively. This role involves planning department operations, establishing priorities, and coordinating assembly activities to meet product specifications. The supervisor will also be responsible for inspecting machinery, developing operational practices, and working with Human Resources on employee relations. Key duties include tracking employee attendance, managing part shortages, attending plant meetings, and ensuring adherence to company policies and safety standards. The role also focuses on the efficient utilization of materials, continuous improvement initiatives, and inter-departmental collaboration to meet customer deadlines. Recommendations for improving production methods, equipment, and product quality are also a key aspect of this position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of related experience is required.
  • Must be able to generate creative solutions to problems and be detail-oriented.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and contribute to building a positive team spirit.
  • Must be experienced in managing and motivating people.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality required.

Responsibilities

  • Review production orders and schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates to plan department operations.
  • Plan department operations, establishing priorities and sequences for completing products.
  • Prepare operational schedules and coordinate assembly activities to ensure production and quality of products meet specifications.
  • Review operating reports and resolve operational and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  • Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observe workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Work with Human Resources in resolving grievances.
  • Compile, store, and retrieve necessary data.
  • Track employee attendance and review weekly schedules.
  • Track daily part shortages.
  • Attend all required plant meetings.
  • Maintain adherence to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
  • Assure efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement of methods, and elimination of wasteful practices within the department.
  • Establish accountability and goals used for performance evaluations for each employee.
  • Responsible for the on-the-job training, including safety and KPS, of all employees in the department.
  • Assist Production Manager with continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Interface with other departments to ensure customer order deadlines are met.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or team.
  • May be required to lock down plant when instructed.
