About The Position

The Production Supervisor facilitates efficient manufacturing of injection molded plastic parts by training, directing, coaching and supervising Production Workers on their assigned shift. Uses established quality processes and procedures to meet or exceed customer requirements.

Requirements

  • High school education coursework or GED required.
  • Experience or training in manufacturing using quality systems.
  • Ability to use measuring and inspection equipment to monitor quality.
  • Ability to read and understand Real Time, Inventory and Sales Order screens in IQMS.
  • Ability to perform basic keyboarding.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and utilize instructions and short correspondence with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Ability to effectively present information to other employees, in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read and understand specification drawings for inspection purposes.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a number of concrete variables.
  • Ability to follow simple verbal instructions.
  • Willingness to attend classes or training to enhance and update knowledge and skills.
  • Direct work tasks to others in manufacturing.
  • Mentors and trains employees in a team environment.
  • Conducts or provides input for employee reviews as required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is frequently required to sit/stand and use hand to manipulate very small parts or tweezers.
  • Sense of touch may be used to detect texture, burs and edges.
  • Frequent movement throughout the facility is required.
  • Normal or corrected to normal vision is required with good color vision, close vision, and ability to use microscope and adjust focus.
  • May be required to move or transport up to 55 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates flow of orders to ensure on time delivery. Communicates effectively all production issues with the other production shifts and with the Toolroom.
  • Organizes workflow and duties for employees and machinery. Makes production decisions, to ensure efficient use of machinery, raw material and labor. These decisions are based on information displayed in IQMS.
  • Gives mold performance input on all new tooling, to tool room, quality control, and engineering and production manager as necessary.
  • Ensures operators are adequately trained for the tasks that they are performing. Ensures work instructions to complete tasks are followed. Ensures all relevant data is being recorded.
  • Conducts or provides input for employee reviews as required.
  • Makes decisions on production problems and communicates these decisions to management on a timely basis.
  • Develops and expands ongoing knowledge of plastic materials to become proficient and capable of using past experience to make informed processing decisions.
  • Enforces all building safety and security guidelines as designated by management.
  • Attends appropriate meetings as necessary to help solve customer complaints, production issues and design problems or conditions that would limit the efficient use of machines and tools.
  • Once trained, incumbent may be assigned to any of the three shifts, or the weekend shift. Future rotation or change of the assigned working shift is possible. Incumbent will also fill in for other production supervisors on other shifts as required during vacation periods etc.
