About The Position

The Production Supervisor directs the end-to-end manufacturing process, overseeing a team of 8 employees spanning raw materials, machining, welding, and assembly. This role requires specific expertise in managing operations involving stainless steel, PVC, and other plastics, ensuring proper material handling and processing techniques. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on optimizing small-team labor, coordinating material flow, and maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of manufacturing experience, with 5+ years in a supervisory or team lead role managing direct reports.
  • Proven experience fabricating, machining, and welding/joining stainless steel and PVC plastic.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, and small team management skills.
  • Ability to stand and walk the shop floor for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and bend, stoop, or reach.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the distinct storage, handling, and processing requirements for stainless steel and PVC plastic to prevent cross-contamination and material degradation.
  • Ensure machining and fabrication parameters (speeds, feeds, and tooling) are correctly optimized for both high-strength stainless steel and sensitive PVC polymers.
  • Supervise specialized TIG welding processes tailored to stainless steel components to ensure structural integrity and cosmetic quality.
  • Guide and oversee the assembly of these skids, maintain the level of quality on all assemblies and assure that deadlines are achieved.
  • Lead, coach, and evaluate a tight-knit team of 8 operators (machinists, welders, and assemblers).
  • Build a resilient workforce by cross-training the team members across different production stages to eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Conduct performance reviews, track daily attendance, and address personnel issues directly.
  • Manage the sequencing of materials from raw material inventory through machining, welding, and final assembly.
  • Plan and assign daily tasks to the team to ensure production schedules and delivery deadlines are met.
  • Ensure all machined, welded, and assembled components meet blueprint specifications and engineering tolerances.
  • Enforce strict safety guidelines, with specific focus on tool safety and proper PPE for all shop tasks, fabrication, and assembly.
  • Ensure all equipment, from CNC machines to welding gear, is properly maintained and safe for daily use.
