About The Position

Oshkosh Defense, an Oshkosh company, is a leading tactical vehicle manufacturer dedicated to meeting the evolving needs of customers with advanced defense technologies. The Production Supervisor will provide leadership and support to manufacturing teams, fostering a safe, productive, and profitable environment. This role involves planning and facilitating team member work to ensure on-time production schedules, quality, housekeeping, and safety objectives are met. A key aspect of this position is developing high-performance work teams through ongoing coaching and direction, promoting a People First Culture. The plant operates on a 3rd shift from 10:00 pm to 6:30 am EST, with potential variations due to overtime.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with three (3) or more years of manufacturing experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong willingness to learn.

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive mechanical skills.
  • Have led a team of technicians, mechanics, or electricians.
  • Ability to plan and organize projects.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

  • Lead 1-2 small or similar areas/processes within the production facility/line.
  • Lead production team members in a union and/or non-union environment on the manufacturing process and provide daily support in troubleshooting issues.
  • Provide performance feedback and appraisals to team members to guide their development.
  • Educate and enforce quality, safety, and 5S standards and processes, and recommend changes.
  • Support maintenance, continuous improvement, and value stream projects to meet production schedule demands.
  • Conduct root-cause analyses of manufacturing processes to identify, define, and resolve problems and opportunities.
  • Enlist requisite support for timely problem resolution and prompt improvement implementation.
  • Report and respond to product and process nonconformance issues.
  • Implement and sustain 5S in work areas, ensuring tools and materials are readily available.
  • Champion process improvements and lead Kaizen events.
  • Create value stream mapping and standard work.
  • Accurately maintain company records and documents in accordance with policies and procedures.
