About The Position

The LYCRA Company is a premier supplier of differentiated fiber products from a global manufacturing base with assets in Europe, USA, Mexico, Brazil, China and Singapore. Our Apparel business works with leading consumer brands, retailers and fabric mills all over the world to leverage our innovative ingredient brand fibers including LYCRA® fiber, COOLMAX® fabric, THERMOLITE® fabric, SUPPLEX® fabric and TACTEL® fiber. The LYCRA Company is a leading supplier in the global apparel markets including ready-to-wear, intimate apparel, swimwear, activewear, outdoor and career apparel. As a shift team leader of the spinning area, you will be responsible for the direct supervision of approximately 15-30 employees in our production area, leading improvements in safety, productivity, reliability and quality. The expectation is to lead in a way that supports/enhances our Guiding Principles, fosters teamwork, and produces excellent results. Responsibilities will also include but are not limited to: planning, assigning, and directing work, training, evaluating employee performance, recognizing and addressing both individual and team performance. The candidate will work a 12-hour straight night shift initially, with the potential to transition to rotating or daylight shifts, monitoring all spandex manufacturing operations using efficient and safe manufacturing processes. To generate the greatest contribution to our company you must be results driven, able to work under pressure and have excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills. Above all you must ensure that all your activities are carried out with integrity and with the highest regard for safety.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of spandex manufacturing experience OR 2+ years supervision experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word™ and Excel™
  • Able and willing to work a 12-hour rotating or straight night shift schedule, including weekends and holidays

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Management or related field
  • Previous experience managing a team with demonstrated ability to effectively lead and motivate a diverse group of employees.
  • Supervisory experience with direct reports in a manufacturing industry
  • Experience working in spandex manufacturing
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Require the ability to communicate at multiple levels of organization.

  • Accomplish manufacturing results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, assigning tasks and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. Provide regular performance feedback to employees and conduct annual performance reviews.
  • Maintain workflow by monitoring personnel and resources including work assignments, vacations, and overtime; implement cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems. Initiate and foster a spirit of cooperation within and between areas.
  • Ensure productivity standards and goals are met by establishing priorities, monitoring results vs expectations, resolving problems, assigning personnel, and driving Continuous Improvement.
  • Maintain quality by establishing and enforcing organization standards. Operate within standard operating procedures, ISO standards, perform RCAs, and conduct Job Safety Analysis.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all equipment and resources; maintain compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain work relationship with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Resolve personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions and recommending action. Manage employee daily activities to ensure production efficiencies.
