About The Position

This role provides leadership and training to production employees, focusing on safety, quality, production, packaging, and maintenance objectives. The Production Supervisor coordinates production activities with other departments to ensure timely and cost-effective achievement of production goals. They establish and monitor shift performance against safety, quality, and production standards, and accurately enter production data to track KPIs. This role also involves updating communication boards, leading employee start-up meetings, and collaborating with teams to improve efficiencies and minimize costs related to overtime, downtime, and repairs. The supervisor is responsible for promoting shop floor organization and lean practices like 5S, acting as the first point of contact for operators facing mechanical failures or production issues, and directing maintenance for troubleshooting and preventative maintenance. They may also conduct tool store inventory reviews and prepare employee work hours for payroll.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering or operations management
3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Flexibility to work multiple shifts

Responsibilities

Provides leadership and training to employees for Safety, Quality, Production, Packaging, and Maintenance.
Coordinates production activities with other departments to ensure production goals are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Works with the operations team to ensure vacancies are covered for any planned/unplanned absences.
Establishes and monitors shift performance for safety, quality, and production standards.
Enters production data accurately into the system to measure and monitor KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) around efficiencies, downtime, inventory and overall production.
Updates communication boards to keep production floor team members informed about safety, quality and efficiency metrics.
Leads employee start-up meetings.
Works with other team members to control and improve efficiencies, minimize labor overtime, downtime and repair expenses.
Implements cost-effective systems as necessary.
Promotes shop floor organization and plant housekeeping with employees utilizing lean techniques such as 5S.
Acts as the first point of contact for operators regarding mechanical failure or production issues.
Directs maintenance employees to troubleshoot mechanical problems and perform preventative maintenance.
May conduct tool store inventory reviews to ensure proper tools and/or parts are available.
Prepares and reviews employees' worked hours for submission to payroll.
