About The Position

Amcor Rigid Packaging is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee all plant production activities on a specific shift. The role is responsible for meeting production schedules and standards, ensuring product quality meets customer requirements, and maintaining optimal production at the lowest possible cost while adhering to all safety regulations. The supervisor will also manage shift maintenance personnel and regular maintenance staff in the absence of the Plant Maintenance Manager.

Requirements

Minimum of two years of college.
Experience in a supervisory position, preferably in plastics manufacturing.
Must be able to communicate quickly and effectively with all members of the shift as well as with management.
Must be capable of managing and training all members of the shift on an on-going basis.
Adherence to all Amcor Rigid Packaging’s safety requirements.

Nice To Haves

Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management.

Responsibilities

Directs manufacturing and material handling activities on a given shift, ensuring employees perform tasks in accordance with safety policies.
Trains and supervises hourly employees, administers plant rules and procedures, and makes recommendations for hiring, promotion, demotion, transfer, disciplinary action, and termination.
Manages the work schedule to prevent idle time and ensure optimal use of personnel, machinery, and materials, utilizing work standards and incentive plans.
Maintains quality standards to meet customer and internal specifications, striving for continuous improvement through training, communication, leadership, and follow-up.
Ensures safe working conditions by taking corrective action on unsafe conditions or acts, and may serve on the Plant Safety Committee.
Implements approved safety recommendations and ensures compliance with established safety standards, including lockout/tagout and hearing conservation.
Conducts monthly safety meetings with the shift.
Handles employee complaints, suggestions, questions, and conflicts in accordance with company policies and the Employee Handbook, maintaining morale and discipline through fairness.
Reports shift-end information including production achieved, runtime/downtime, maintenance performed, quality deviations, material receipts/shipments, material problems, and personnel issues.
Assists in reviewing labor and manufacturing costs related to production, analyzing and recommending cost reduction methods.
Coordinates the implementation of material or method changes, communicating them to production personnel and ensuring proper understanding and implementation.
Stays current on technical developments and changes to make recommendations and instruct/train employees.
Performs other related duties as requested by management.
