Requirements

  • College degree, or equivalent work experience in a related job function.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented individual with good analytical and communication skills.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the process of continuous improvement.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing practices and equipment.
  • Ability to work well with people at all levels and facilitate change and growth in a team environment.
  • Management level knowledge of accounting, purchasing, engineering, and employee relations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science, or technical degree in a related field (Engineering, Forestry, Wood Science).
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in manufacturing/wood products/management, including demonstrated responsibility for all identified areas.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all aspects of the Plywood Manufacturing process, including safety, administration, planning, scheduling, production, shipping, quality, product development, environmental and technical compliance, and personnel management.
  • Direct production and manufacturing to continually improve efficiency, economy, and safety, in accordance with established process and product specifications, quality standards, delivery schedules, and standard costs.
  • Provide a safe work environment that meets or exceeds regulatory compliance levels.
  • Work with suppliers and recommend equipment and supplies needed to maintain an efficient and up-to-date manufacturing facility.
  • Coordinate engineering on new projects and existing equipment upgrades, preparing necessary back-up data.
  • Prepare monthly safety meeting discussion points and training materials.
  • Prepare budget information and review for areas of responsibility for compliance with the budget.
  • Provide guidance to supervisors to maintain satisfactory employee and labor relations, safety, and teamwork within a Total Quality framework.
  • Coordinate various phases of operation to ensure efficient workflow and assignment, working closely with maintenance, technical and quality resources, raw material procurement, and safety and environmental departments.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement, actively identify and respond to customer needs, and be open and responsive to change.
