About The Position

The Production Superintendent is responsible for directing the Production Department personnel, including setting goals and performance criteria. This role involves production planning and scheduling, ensuring quality assurance to meet customer requirements, and overseeing personnel training and management, including hiring. The Superintendent also directs the safety and environmental programs for the Production Department, ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining a safe working environment. Responsibilities include monitoring and directing the inspection of process equipment, participating in the development and execution of the Annual Operating Plan, and implementing company policies. The role focuses on maximizing and optimizing production process efficiency in coordination with market demands, ensuring continuous proper operation of process equipment, and accurate reporting. Additionally, the Superintendent oversees the reprocessing of off-spec materials, ensures product compliance with customer requirements, directs maintenance activities, and manages operating supplies and housekeeping. Key performance indicators for the department are established, and the annual operating plan budget and performance objectives must be met. Succession planning is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, including demonstrated success in a similar role with a carbon black manufacturer or other Chemical/Petrochemical manufacturer having engaged in these same activities.
  • Effective PC and PC-application software skills.
  • Effective communicator, both oral and written.
  • High energy level, self-motivating, team player, with an excellent work ethic.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage both people and situations.
  • Self-confident and secure to be able to identify and correct problems through good troubleshooting techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Direct supervisor of the Production Department personnel, including setting appropriate goals and performance criteria.
  • Plans and directs the production scheduling.
  • Monitors and directs personnel ensuring the process produces a product in compliance with customer requirements.
  • Oversees Production Department personnel training.
  • Oversee and direct the hiring, scheduling, and training of all Production Department personnel.
  • Direct the Production Department safety program, by conducting and review weekly meetings, inspections, and correcting unsafe conditions and / or situations.
  • Monitor and direct all environment issues to ensure that the plant meets local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Monitor and direct the inspection of process equipment.
  • Participate in the development of the Annual Operating Plan. Monitor and direct the production department to ensure that its meets the plant Annual Operating Plan.
  • Implement all department, plant and company policies and procedures.
  • Maximize and optimize production process condition efficiency in coordination with market/sales demands.
  • Inspect all process equipment to ensure proper operation on a continuous basis.
  • Ensure that all require reporting has been completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Monitor and direct safe and proper process equipment operation.
  • Monitoring and directing the processing and handling of Off-Spec material, rerun, and prevention of Storage Tank contamination.
  • Ensure that the product is in compliance with customer requirements.
  • Monitor and direct all maintenance activities to ensure efficient and safe operations of the production units.
  • Monitor and direct the management of all operating supplies.
  • Survey responsible process areas and perform housekeeping to maintain plant facilities in a safe and orderly condition.
  • Establish key performance indicators for the department.
  • Meet annual operating plan budget and performance objectives.
  • Develop and update succession plan.
