About The Position

The Production Sr Lead Person is responsible for production personnel, processes, and performance to safety, quality, delivery, and cost standards. This role assists in the supervision of personnel and is responsible for the activities in their area of responsibility, ensuring established policies, rules, regulations, and procedures are followed. The position is also responsible for the safety of personnel, processes, equipment, and housekeeping of the area, as well as ensuring all processes, equipment, and personnel are meeting quality standards. Additionally, the role ensures training and cross-training are conducted effectively and training records are maintained. The Production Sr Lead Person assists the Supervisor with employee development, administrative duties, timekeeping, employee scheduling, and manpower assignment to meet production schedules and cost targets. They maintain thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment in their area of responsibility, lead operational efficiency by reviewing manpower and equipment requirements based on production needs, and report and follow up on all process and equipment problems. The role involves troubleshooting problems, participating in problem-solving teams, and identifying, recommending, and assisting in the implementation of measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and productivity using lean manufacturing techniques. The Production Sr Lead Person monitors and controls the consumption of materials and supplies to ensure appropriate utilization within cost targets, verifies correct identification, handling, and storage of products and materials, and coordinates and maintains visual controls used within production areas. They are responsible for ensuring adherence to the policies and procedures of the quality standard TS16949 and environmental ISO 14001 standard.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum three years’ experience in leadership in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Leadership experience, higher education/training; and/or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • An understanding of concepts for lean manufacturing.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with oral and written communication including telephone conversation.
  • Ability to operate proficiently a PC computer; use effectively word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications.
  • Ability to draft and format memos, emails, spreadsheets, and graphs.
  • Ability to navigate and perform duties in enterprise ERP and timekeeping software systems.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to interpret company and departmental financial data.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Supervisor with timekeeping by verifying accuracy of clock punches, reconciling time-clock exceptions and performing inter-departmental time transfers.
  • Assists Supervisor with employee scheduling and assignment of manpower to meet production schedules and cost targets.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment in area of responsibility.
  • Leads operational efficiency by reviewing manpower and equipment requirements based on production needs.
  • Reports and follows up on all process and equipment problems.
  • Troubleshoots problems and participates in problem solving teams.
