About The Position

Groundworks Industries is seeking a Production Specialist to work in their commercial kitchen environment. This role is responsible for ensuring all product is manufactured in accordance with standard operating procedures, meets quality standards, and maintains efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. The Production Specialist will work closely with production team members and contribute to building an inclusive and professional cannabis culture. The company's Workshop creates high-quality cannabis goods using innovative delivery systems, honoring Portland's maker culture.

Requirements

  • All cannabis industry employees must be age 21 or older.
  • Must hold or obtain a valid OLCC Marijuana Handler's permit.
  • Must have an up-to-date Food Handlers Card.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, and kneel daily in a variety of production environments.
  • Ability to push, pull and carry up to 50 pounds multiple times daily.
  • Ability to maintain focus and memory in environments with distractions.
  • Ability to work in occasionally hot or cold environments.

  • Basic knowledge of food science.
  • Understanding of inventory management systems.
  • 1-2 years minimum experience working in a commercial kitchen environment or in food manufacturing using a variety of equipment such as kettles, depositors, and scales.
  • Cannabis industry or traditional confectionary experience.
  • Food manufacturing experience.
  • Familiarity with cannabis tracking systems and various operational technology platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Making cannabis edible confections and topical products.
  • Managing candy cooks, depositing product into molds, popping product out of molds, tempering chocolate, mixing and baking cookies, and other products.
  • Supporting packaging and inventory management efforts, including stickering, boxing, and counting.
  • Partnering with a team of cannabis confection professionals to complete the production plan by following scheduling and assignments, accomplishing work tasks, and following established priorities.
  • Following all written work instructions, including product recipes and formulas, Standard Operating Procedures, and checklists.
  • Assisting in maintaining the inventory of raw ingredients, work in process, and finished product.
  • Cleaning the production space at the end of each day.
