About The Position

Epsilyte in Peru, IL, is a leading manufacturer of expandable polystyrene resin (EPS), an advanced material for building insulation, cold-chain packaging, and personal safety equipment. The Production Shift Supervisor is directly responsible for providing leadership and direction to a team of 5-7 operators, including activities of the assigned operating shift. The supervisor will lead his or her team to operate the facility in compliance with established safety regulations and procedures, federal and state environmental regulations, production schedules, and output requirements. Activities include setting clear expectations, enforcing policies & standards, leading improvements in safety, productivity, reliability, and quality, directing and assisting operators in the performance of their shift routines, monitoring and coaching operators on their performance, conducting plant walk-downs to identify deficiencies, and oversight of operator rounds. The Production Shift Supervisor works under the direction of the Operations Superintendent.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years of work experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, OR 2+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and planning skills
  • Intermediate computer skills, including intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) with the ability to document
  • Able and willing to work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, including weekends and holidays
  • Physical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing of stairs and ladders
  • Willingness to work around chemicals, dust, and other substances; ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, heeled boots and hearing protection)
  • This role is subject to the Transportation Workers Identification Credentialing rule or "TWIC" and requires a successful candidate to obtain a TWIC identification badge, allowing for unescorted access to the facility
  • This role is not eligible for work visa sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in petrochemical, manufacturing, and/or logistics
  • Mechanical troubleshooting experience

Responsibilities

  • Leader of shift production
  • Ensure Environmental, Health, and Safety compliance of the shift team
  • Oversight of execution of production plans
  • Recognize and close gaps in plans
  • Coordinate and supervise field activities, including oversight of procedure use and operator rounds
  • Perform plant walk-downs to identify deficiencies and initiate corrective actions as appropriate
  • Conduct Supervisor rounds of the entire facility
  • Coach and mentor employees for assigned shift production team
  • Be a role model for and advance the Epsilyte Life Critical Safety Rules and Code of Conduct
  • Planning, assigning, and directing work, training, evaluating employee performance, recognizing individual and team performance
  • Ensure the understanding and application of the company risk profile
  • Demonstrates behavior that supports teams to improve business
  • Direct critical/key operational/plant activities, including production, test runs, unit start-ups, shutdowns, or duties as assigned to support site operations
  • Facilitate daily crew briefing with team members
  • Direct shift team and set priorities for the shift to meet objectives
  • Prepare shift reports
