About The Position

Molding Products is looking for a Lead to add to our 2nd shift Production team. This role involves managing and supervising the day-to-day activities of production personnel to ensure a safe and efficient manufacturing work environment. The shift is from 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays required. The pay rate is $25.00 - $27.00 per hour, plus a $2.00 shift premium.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (GED) or equivalent.
  • Experience in a leadership role.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment uses, and current Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing plant environment, preferably in a chemical, SMC, or Extruder field.
  • Self-Starter and Multi-Task oriented.
  • Good verbal skills.
  • Understanding of Chemical Process Equipment and technology.
  • Willing to get "hands dirty" when troubleshooting or filling in at positions.
  • Ability to drive a forklift.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Ability to make snap (quick) decisions.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator.

Responsibilities

  • Champion safety by leading by example and ensuring production personnel follow plant safety rules and wear appropriate PPE.
  • Identify, resolve, and report unsafe acts and conditions.
  • Provide direction and support to production personnel for efficient and safe job execution.
  • Interact with the Production Manager and Production Supervisor regarding the daily SMC and Mixing schedule.
  • Perform and troubleshoot all production jobs.
  • Fill in at any production position as needed due to illness or absenteeism.
  • Review and schedule time for daily quality repacks.
  • Keep records and reports of machinery downtime, and review with management.
  • Monitor productivity progression in compaction and compounding departments and review with management.
  • Keep logs and report all quality issues during mixing or compacting processes to management.
  • Verify correct completion of all paperwork, including lot numbers, dates, amounts used, sheet weight, glass weight, and pre-run checks, and report variances.
  • Monitor hold tank labeling accuracy and availability.
  • Plan and schedule share and mixing batch orders.
  • Organize and prioritize glass types being used and replaced.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Organize production personnel during spill cleanup.
  • Communicate and coordinate with shipping and quality departments for safe and efficient production.
  • Communicate with the Production Supervisor to schedule breaks for production personnel.
  • Monitor "end of shift" milestones such as staging glass, removing Haz-Waste drums, emptying trash, turning in paperwork, making boxes, machine cleanliness, and raw material staging.
  • Review daily progress regarding equipment issues, machinery time variances, quality issues, and raw material availability with management.
  • Follow and understand SOPs and activities related to day-to-day processes, including good documentation practices.
  • Be a team player willing to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain good attendance.
