About The Position

The Production Scheduler is responsible for planning and scheduling production according to customer orders, forecasts, and stocking agreements. This role involves coordinating production requirements to ensure a consistent flow of materials while maintaining optimal inventory levels for both finished goods and work-in-process. The scheduler monitors the performance of manufacturing areas against the schedule, making necessary adjustments to meet production targets. They also establish priorities for mold changes, repairs, and equipment maintenance, issue shop orders in compliance with MRP and MPS, and notify Customer Service of any schedule changes impacting delivery dates. Additionally, this position partners with Engineering for new product introductions, reviews and adjusts schedules daily, validates schedules against available inventory, and completes performance metrics. A monthly capacity analysis is performed to determine resource needs, and priorities are set for preventive maintenance. The role also involves identifying process improvement opportunities, reviewing planning parameters in the IQMS system, creating recovery plans, and working with Customer Service to reduce backorders. Compliance with the organization's Quality and Environmental Management System is mandatory, including understanding assigned responsibilities, environmental aspects, impacts, and emergency response procedures.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years experience in Production Control/Scheduling function and warehouse/ inventory function.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with plastic injection molding preferred.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • English language proficiency to include verbal and written communication.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word at minimum).

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 2 years in Planning/Scheduling or Purchasing (Preferred)
  • Training in APICS CPIM, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule production according to customer orders, forecast, and stocking agreements.
  • Coordinate production requirements to ensure a consistent flow of materials while maintaining optimal inventory levels.
  • Monitor Finish Good (FG) and Work in Process (WIP) inventory levels per plant´s goal.
  • Monitor the performance of manufacturing areas against the production schedule and make the necessary adjustments to ensure production targets are met.
  • Establish priorities for mold changes, mold repairs, and preventive or corrective maintenance of molds and production equipment.
  • Issue shop orders in compliance with Material Requirement Plan and Master Production Schedule.
  • Notify Customer Service of production schedule changes that may impact customer delivery dates.
  • Partner with Engineering to coordinate the transition of new products (NPI) to production.
  • Review and adjust the production schedule for all work centers daily, assign production priorities according to customer delivery dates.
  • Validate the production schedule against available inventory levels of resin, components, and packaging materials.
  • Complete and monitor the department’s established performance metrics (KPIs).
  • Perform a capacity analysis monthly to determine labor, machining utilization and any other resources required to meet monthly production and revenue goal.
  • Define priorities and machine availability for preventive maintenance activities on machines and molds.
  • Continuously identify and support process improvement opportunities.
  • Periodically review planning parameters within the IQMS system and report any required corrections.
  • Create recovery plans to be communicated to the customers through Customer Service.
  • Work with Customer Service to reduce / eliminate backorder.
  • Understand and comply with the organization's Quality and Environmental Management System procedures.
  • Understand and apply the company's Quality and Environmental Policy.
  • Understand the importance of assigned responsibilities and how they contribute to achieving quality and environmental objectives, as well as compliance with applicable legal and organizational requirements.

  • Perform all other duties inherent to the position or as required to meet the operational needs of the company.
  • Provide support to other departments as needed due to increased workload, staffing shortages, or other business requirements, as directed by the immediate supervisor.
