About The Position

The Production Scheduler plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules and coordinates material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials to meet production requirements. Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability and potential production issues to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided as needed; schedules equipment and personnel; confirms material supply and demands; coordinates interdepartmental activity with manufacturing, quality control and assurance, supply chain, engineering, etc.; schedules and expedites the movement of materials.

Requirements

  • The minimum education required for holding the position is a BS Degree, specific APICS courses on Supply Chain Management and/or master Production Scheduling. The position requires 5+ years of experience in a planning/manufacturing/supply chain environment.
  • The jobholder must have excellent PC skills and be fully familiar with MRP-II principles and ERP applications that support planning. The jobholder must have the ability to liaise with the Demand Management function to resolve conflicting interests.
  • The jobholder must have the ability to easily interact with all levels of the organization.
  • The jobholder must be a strong influencer and persuader, capable of dealing with all functional groups within the organization.
  • Analytical thinking, excellent problem-solving skills, concern for impact and ability to explain complicated issues to different levels in the organization are a must for the position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Sales & Operations Planning process, particularly the Supply Planning Step.
  • Participate in the creation of an effective and appropriate master Scheduling policy.
  • Load the Master Schedule through the Planning Time Fence to the volume specified by the Production Plan from the S&OP process.
  • Identify, negotiate, and bring to resolution any demand/supply imbalances in both volume and mix.
  • Review and manage change requests from customers making appropriate reschedules in accordance with the master Schedule policy.
  • Work to maintain stability in the Master Schedule, while being responsive to the needs of customers.
  • Allow no past dues in the Master Schedule.
  • Develop and maintain planning data, such as: Recipe Management, Safety Stock, Lead Times, Lot Sizes, Resources, etc.
  • Inform the appropriate individuals, per the Master Schedule policy, of any issues that cannot be handled within the framework of that policy.
