About The Position

The Production Scheduler is responsible for coordinating production schedules, allocating inventory to customer orders, monitoring production progress, and ensuring products meet customer specifications as well as quality, food safety, and regulatory requirements. This role serves as a key liaison between Production, USDA/DFA, Quality, Sales, and Logistics to support efficient operations and timely order fulfillment. The Production Scheduler ensures compliance with food safety standards, shelf-life requirements, labeling regulations, and inventory management procedures while supporting production planning, workflow coordination, inventory control, and customer service. The position also maintains adherence to GMP, HACCP, Food Defense, Allergen Control, and company food safety programs to ensure product integrity and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
Must be able to speak, read and write English.
Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, food safety regulations, and food manufacturing practices.
Strong customer service orientation and communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret food safety policies, GMP procedures, SOPs, sales orders, and company documentation.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately.
Ability to analyze inventory levels and production requirements.
Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, and schedule-based instructions.
Strong organizational, planning, and scheduling skills.
Ability to work independently and remain self-motivated.
Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with computer systems, inventory software, calculators, and office equipment.

Nice To Haves

Six months to one year of related production scheduling, inventory, logistics, customer service, manufacturing, or administrative experience preferred.
Experience in food manufacturing or food processing environments preferred.

Responsibilities

Review sales orders to determine production feasibility and inventory availability.
Accept or reject sales orders based on product availability, production capacity, and food safety requirements.
Assign product lots according to shipment dates, shelf-life requirements, inventory availability, and customer specifications.
Verify products meet food safety, quality, grading, labeling, and customer requirements.
Ensure compliance with aflatoxin limits, microbiological specifications, sodium/salt requirements, USDA grades, labeling requirements, allergen declarations, and shelf-life standards.
Aid in scheduling activities between Production, USDA, DFA, Quality, Sales, and Logistics departments.
Serve as liaison between Production and USDA/DFA agencies.
Assist in Scheduling USDA/DFA inspections and support activities when necessary.
Receive, review, verify, and get approval from traders on customized product labels.
Review labels each shift for accuracy and completeness.
Maintain NAV inventory procedures and inventory control systems.
Update inventory records, workflow systems, lot assignments, and license plate information.
Communicate order requirements and production instructions to traders, management, and production personnel.
Respond to sales order questions and coordinate clarifications with traders and customers.
Provide product lots for samples and special customer requests.
Assist with monthly and annual physical inventory counts.
Serve as backup to the Production Manager for lot assignments and order approvals when required.
Maintain positive employee relations and professional communication with employees, contractors, vendors, and customers.
Document food safety incidents, employee injuries, and assigned corrective actions.
Participate in root cause analysis investigations.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Review and accept/ reject sales orders based on inventory, capacity, food safter, and or time requirements.
Assign lots based on shipment date, shelf life, specs, and availability.
Verify aflatoxin, micro, sodium/ salt, USDA grade, allergen, label, and shelf- life requirements.
Maintain NAV inventory and license plate updates.
Serve as backup for lot assignments and order approvals when needed.
