About The Position

The purpose of this position is to plan, coordinate, and direct the flow of production of products and materials. This role involves ensuring that production schedules meet customer due dates and managing resources effectively to achieve production goals.

Requirements

  • Safety and Security: Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective safety for the protection of people and property.
  • Analyzing Data or Information: Identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in operations, industrial management, engineering technology, or related field of study or 5+ years related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience in metal fabrication, machining, and/or light manufacturing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the steel industry or with metals service center operations.
  • Experience with ERP software.

Responsibilities

  • Works to supply products and services that meet or exceed the customers’ expectations. Follows the documented quality systems and processes to satisfy our customers’ needs.
  • Plans and establishes production schedules based on customer due dates.
  • Reviews all work orders, establishes priorities, and revises schedule according to projects, work order specifications, established priorities, and available capability of employees, material, customer parts, machines, and equipment.
  • Calculates factors, such as types and quantities of production, materials used, amount of scrap, frequency of defects, and production rates.
  • Consults with supervisors to determine progress of work and to provide information on changes in processing methods received from engineering or quality staff.
  • Collects, inputs, validates, and finalizes all daily production records.
  • Conducts capacity analysis involving input from customers, sales, and purchasing regarding quoted jobs and expected awards, customer demand, and historical shipments.
  • Reviews and maintains assemblies, bill of materials, routings, and rates for accurate planning.
  • Compiles reports concerning progress of work and downtime due to failures of machines and equipment to apprise planning personnel of delays.
  • Recommend process changes for quality performance, continuous improvement, cost effectiveness and excellent customer service.
  • Participates in backup and cross-training support within the team to ensure operational continuity.
  • May assist the Plant Manager or other managers in other duties or special products as needed.
