About The Position

C.H. Thompson is currently seeking a Production Racker to join our team. As a Production Racker you will play a crucial role in maintaining quality, safety, and productivity through a hands-on approach. Specifically, the role focuses on reading a word order to racking and unracking before and after subsequent processes such as anodize or paint, as well as packaging parts for shipment. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is preferred.
  • Relevant experience in metal finishing, manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Communication: Clear communication is essential for reporting findings and collaborating with production teams.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues and recommend solutions.
  • Technical Skills: Basic math and computer skills, ability to use specialized testing tools and machinery.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, as well as lift up to 50lbs, bend, push, pull, reach and twist for 8-10 hours a day.

Responsibilities

  • Reading work orders to determine how to place or hang metal parts on racks or hooks to prepare them for various finishing processes, such as plating, anodizing, powder coat or wet paint.
  • Racking items strategically to maximize coating coverage and minimize waste.
  • Distributing items evenly on the rack to maintain stability during transport and coating.
  • Unracking parts after processing.
  • Keeping up in a fast-paced environment by ensuring that the painters & powder coaters have parts racked and ready for processing continuously without delay.
  • Prioritizing items based on production schedules and deadlines.
  • Filling racks efficiently without compromising coating quality.
  • Inspect parts before and after the finishing process to ensure they meet quality standards and reporting any defects or non-conformances to supervisors.
  • Package completed parts by following customer specifications, prints and guidelines to ensure proper packing of parts.
  • Utilize computer system to track job progress and scan in and out of jobs.
  • Coordinate with painters, anodize operators, or other production team members to ensure smooth workflow during subsequent processes.
  • Provide feedback on racking challenges or improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Wear appropriate PPE (gloves, safety glasses) to protect against chemicals and sharp edges.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, especially when handling chemicals or using cutting tools.
