About The Position

The Production Quality Technician ensures that daily assigned Value Added work order(s) meet productivity goals, quality requirements, and customer expectations by following customer SOPs and guidelines. This is achieved through timely and periodic checks during the production process and documenting the results of audits conducted. The role emphasizes a 'Continuous Improvement Culture' and a commitment to safety. Requirements

  • Ability to document and record findings in a legible and timely manner.
  • Ability to provide work direction and motivate the workforce to achieve daily goals.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic, reading, and writing skills.
  • Ability to perform basic mechanical functions.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment.
  • Experience and knowledge about food safety or willingness to receive training in food safety.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to twist, stoop, squat, and reach above shoulder level.
  • Ability to push, pull, remove, and place product in various configurations, involving use of fingers, hands, arms, etc.
  • Must be able to take work direction from management personnel.
  • Must follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and specific customer work instructions.
  • Must be able to alert management immediately on all non-conformance issues.
  • Must immediately report any issue relating to personnel, productivity, Value Add Inspection form, and submit at end of shift.
  • Must make recommendations to improve efficiency in the daily processes.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure daily assigned Value Added work order(s) meet productivity goals and quality requirements.
  • Follow customer SOPs and guidelines.
  • Conduct timely and periodic checks during the production process.
  • Document results of audits conducted.
  • Maintain daily housekeeping of the operations building, equipment, break rooms, restrooms, and smoke areas.
  • Promote teamwork and assist in all areas and processes as needed.
  • Meet established hourly production standards and escalate production issues per SOP.
  • Review and understand customer work instructions prior to working on assigned orders.
  • Keep visual goal charts updated hourly (if applicable).
  • Understand all procedures for operating machines.
  • Perform visual inspections for carton formation, date coding, quality of product packaging, expiration dates, production dates, product correctness, product damage, pallet build formation (TiHi), machine wrap application, and pallet label application.
  • Perform initial product inspection at the beginning of every new production run.
  • Conduct periodic interval inspections as designated by management.
  • Ensure all completed documents are accurate, legible, and include all non-conformances and quality checks with recorded times, initials, and dates.
  • File completed documents at the end of the work shift.
  • Accurately complete associated paperwork, including customer-required documentation and Production Reports.
  • Provide timely, informative, and professional responses on all emails and phone calls.
  • Ensure communications and meetings with customers and co-workers are professional and businesslike.
  • Assist others as directed by management.
  • Understand all procedures for operating machines.
  • Report all incidents/accidents or unsafe acts immediately to your supervisor/manager.
  • Promote safety awareness with teammates and provide safety suggestions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Ensure all safety guards are in place on all equipment.
  • Ensure all safety policies, practices, and SOPs are being followed.
