About The Position

This position is responsible for providing an interface between customers and in-house personnel. This involves scheduling, coordinating, monitoring the expedient flow of parts through the manufacturing processes, and shipping to satisfy the customers’ delivery requirements. The role requires communicating with customers regarding requirements and concerns, acting as a liaison between customers and manufacturing/support teams, and ensuring specifications are met and delivery is timely. The Production Planning Manager will draw up master schedules, analyze production specifications, plan and schedule workflow, monitor throughput, and prepare production reports. This role also involves providing schedule/forecast information to purchasing and engineering, updating inventory systems, providing capacity analysis, and forecasting. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in production planning, marketing, or business discipline, or equivalent work-related experience.
  • One to three months related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to function effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated requisite skills and abilities in basic computer operation.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with customers concerning requirements, talks with them regarding other customer service-related concerns, and answers any other questions.
  • Acts as liaison between customers and manufacturing and support teams.
  • Communicates customers’ requirements and concerns.
  • Acts as the customer intermediary to insure that specifications are met and delivery is timely.
  • Draws up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
  • Use system & customer files to: Ensure tooling availability, Coordinate with toolroom for reworks and coatings, Tooling Manager for tooling builds, Department input schedules, Meet weekly input quantities, Meet weekly LOH targets, Meet weekly revenue targets.
  • Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
  • Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
  • Plans sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
  • Confers with department supervisors to determine status of assigned projects.
  • Stay current with planning yields vs standard yields.
  • Monitors throughput and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Prepares production reports.
  • Provides schedule/forecast information to purchasing and Engineering to ensure required materials, tools and equipment are in place.
  • Updates information on computer for perpetual inventory system.
  • Has custodial support responsibility for the physical inventory.
  • Provides both short and long term capacity analysis.
  • Responsible for both near and long term forecasting.
