About The Position

Shaw Industries is hiring a Production Planning Manager who will be responsible for the planning, monitoring, and forecasting of monthly resin supply as well as the suggested amount to purchase. This role monitors inventory levels of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods, as well as monitoring production capabilities and levels. This position evaluates and manages customer needs, both internal and external. Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory flow between carpet plants and outside customers. Any decisions relating to production or inventory are made independently through this position, unless it will affect the amount of labor used in production. Responsible for management of Plant LS Backing warehouse and inventory maintained therein.

Requirements

4-year degree
Must be able to work onsite at Plant SI in Chickamauga full time

3-5 years of Planning experience preferred

Responsibilities

Monitoring inventory levels of raw materials (including resin), WIP, and finished goods.
Consulting, advising, leading, coordinating, and monitoring.
Working with the Plant Planners, LS Personnel, Shipping/Receiving Leads, Global Sourcing, Raw Material Receiving Clerk, and Accounting Personnel.
Ensure adherence to Corporate Integrated Planning policies and practices, driving consistent planning standards, governance, and decision‑making across demand, supply, and inventory to support service expectations of each business unit.
Monitor rail car arrival dates to reduce or not incur demurrage charges.
Attend Commercial, Residential, and Turf Supply meetings to understand any changes coming on forecast and build backing plan from supply published on the dashboards.
Submit Purchase Orders to external backing suppliers for their products used by Shaw Carpet Plants.
Work with supplier customer service, planning, and sales by monitoring and updating inventory position and providing forecasts for backing used by Shaw Carpet Plants.
Planning Inventory Requirements and monthly target level, by planning, advising, coordinating and monitoring.
Working with Leadership within Planning and Forecasting, and the Global Sourcing Group.
Lead and Advise Plant Planner and Support Staff.
Working with Direct Reports (Planners, Shipping/Receiving Leads).
Work with Customer Technical Service (CTS) on issues or conversions of product at other plants.
Provide reporting necessary for product implementations or phase out.
Determines best methods of implementing or phasing out new skus.
Work with Shaw R&D for technical soft surfaces, by providing information on external or internal backing supply as well as placing orders for backing needed to run trials.
Capacity planning by advising and monitoring.
Management of inventory shipments, and shipping personnel from Plant SI/LS to warehouse to customer, by leading, advising, and monitoring.
Monitor cycle count results for backing warehouse and provide guidance when needed.
Management of raw materials purchases and buyers for manufacturing plants by consulting with Global Sourcing.
Work with DJ monthly on plans for SI produced fiber needed for DJ production.
Report monthly pounds sold of yarn, fiber, and backing to Sustainability.
Providing a monthly S&OP requirement to Manufacturing, planning, coordinating, and monitoring.
Working with accounting on production plan in order to provide a variance forecast on production planned.
Management of shipping finished goods for sale to external customers, as well as dealing with Shaw Sales, Accounting and Customer Service for handling of billing and invoicing of external product shipped.
Work with Industrial Engineers, and Accounting at other plants to make sure carpet specs are revised with correct backing specs in a timely manner. This ensures a better forecast and that the cost of the backing is updated, as necessary.
