Schedules and coordinates the flow of work in the front-end operations (forge, heat treat, grind, etc.) to expedite production. This role involves reviewing the master production schedule, establishing priorities, and revising schedules based on various factors. The Production Planner also supports auditing and tracking incoming travelers, updating the ship call backlog, and conferring with department supervisors to monitor progress and communicate changes. Additionally, this position may involve obtaining quotations from outside vendors, typing purchase orders, and following up on external job orders. The role includes compiling reports on production progress and downtime, reviewing travelers upon job completion, scheduling material transfers, and ensuring the accuracy of Daily Production Reports. The Production Planner is also responsible for entering data for Lean Projects, DPR, and downtime sheets to create metrics and charts, as well as scheduling and managing departmental forklift operators/drivers. Managerial duties encompass performance reviews, disciplinary actions, employee training, investigations, and timecard administration.
