About The Position

The Production Planner will be responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules for custom machinery projects. This role involves translating engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and project plans into executable production plans. The planner will coordinate with engineering to manage design changes, work with procurement to ensure timely material availability, and balance shop floor capacity, labor, and machine utilization. Key responsibilities include monitoring production progress, resolving bottlenecks, prioritizing work orders, supporting make/buy decisions, maintaining accurate production data in ERP/MRP systems, and communicating schedules and risks to project managers and leadership. The role also involves participating in continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing coordination
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production planning tools
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and BOMs
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, project-driven environments

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in custom machinery, automation, fabrication, or project-based manufacturing environments preferred
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, assembly, wiring, integration)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain production schedules for custom machinery projects

  • Maintain accurate production data in ERP/MRP systems
  • Communicate schedules, risks, and progress to project managers and leadership
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for workflow and efficiency
