Production Planner
About The Position
The Production Planner coordinates raw materials, purchasing, production scheduling, and shipping to support a seamless production process that meets customer needs. The role manages orders and delivery dates, establishes production plans and work schedules, coordinates shipping and logistics, and maintains inventory and related records. It also coordinates material transfers and communicates material availability, production schedules, and shipping information to sales and plant personnel. The Production Planner prepares required certificates, coordinates inspections, and oversees material sampling.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience with inventory control, loading, and shipping procedures.
- Ability to read shop drawings.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as a team player in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Receive orders from sales offices and customers, verify their accuracy, and set delivery dates based on material availability, customer requirements, and production schedules.
- Establish production plans and priorities in line with customer demand.
- Create daily work schedules for hourly personnel to optimize production efficiency.
- Identify favorable carrier prices and services, coordinate customer shipments, determine efficient routes, and expedite deliveries as needed.
- Plan daily loading schedules and prepare loading combinations for finished-product shipments.
- Order raw materials and miscellaneous inventory items while seeking favorable pricing and meeting specifications.
- Prepare bills of materials from prints and drawings for complete projects.
- Maintain inventory levels within defined objectives, remove shipped material from records, and maintain inventory records.
- Coordinate interplant material transfers and keep sales and plant personnel informed about material availability, production, shipping schedules, and other relevant information.
- Manage order changes affecting production schedules and shipping, and resolve related daily issues.
- Prepare material and product certificates, coordinate inspections, and oversee material sampling as required by representative agencies.
