McElroy Manufacturing is looking for a Production Planner I to help keep our production schedules running smoothly and our customers happy. If you're ready to play a key role in the heartbeat of manufacturing operations, this might be your perfect fit. As a Production Planner I, you’ll work across teams to ensure our production schedule stays on track — balancing customer demand, inventory goals, and operational priorities. You’ll be the go-to person for coordinating materials, schedules, and communication between departments to keep production flowing efficiently.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Intermediate Excel and Outlook proficiency
  • ERP experience (Infor XA preferred)
  • Familiarity with Kanban or customer-driven demand systems
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple time-sensitive tasks like a pro
  • Comfortable working with teams across all levels

Nice To Haves

  • Bonus points for college/technical training in manufacturing, production control, or related fields
  • Experience in Production Control, Inventory, Purchasing, Warehousing, or Manufacturing is a plus
  • APICS CPIM certification or similar? Even better!

Responsibilities

  • Schedule Execution
  • Release daily production schedules accurately and on time
  • Review MRP messages, exception reports, and system alerts
  • Reschedule work, address shortages, and keep jobs moving
  • Ownership & Planning
  • Manage a defined group of parts, routings, and work centers
  • Monitor job status and material availability
  • Make day-to-day planning decisions within established guidelines
  • Problem Solving
  • Identify and resolve routine issues like shortages, capacity constraints, and late jobs
  • Balance work center load vs. available capacity
  • Escalate risks before they become roadblocks
  • Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Warehouse, Purchasing, Quality, and more
  • Communicate changes, priorities, and risks clearly and proactively
  • Change Management
  • Adjust schedules when demand shifts or disruptions occur
  • Support stability while adapting to evolving needs
  • Data Integrity & Systems Support
  • Maintain accurate planning data in Infor XA and related systems
  • Open and modify jobs as needed
  • Spot and correct system discrepancies quickly
