About The Position

Hydraquip is seeking a Production Painter/Technician (Level 1) to join their 100% employee-owned company. This role is responsible for painting pumps, motors, and valves to meet customer specifications. Additionally, the technician will perform pump and motor conversions, including the assembly of hydraulic pump, motors, valves, and other fluid power equipment, especially in the absence of paint orders. Hydraquip specializes in converting pumps and motors to meet customer requirements and building custom subassemblies for industrial and mobile applications. The production department is crucial for building and testing high-quality assemblies and components.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent secondary education.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of painting experience.
  • Zero (0) to three (3) years of experience in mechanical conversions and assemblies.
  • Strong personal skills and desire for growth as an individual and technician.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good, safe work habits.
  • Strong aptitude for mechanical conversion and assembly of equipment and mechanical systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school certificate or associate’s degree.
  • Experience with 2-part epoxy painting and zero rust painting is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with pneumatic paint applicator is preferred.
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment is considered a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the site, the surface(s), and required materials.
  • Apply primers, sealers, paints, and other coatings using brushes, rollers, or industrial sprayers. Apply specialty finishes as requested per customer specifications.
  • Clean and maintain painting equipment, including sprayers, brushes, and rollers.
  • Securely store hazardous materials and leftover paint in accordance with environmental regulations.
  • Perform all conversions and assemblies at the highest possible level of quality.
  • Build knowledge of fluid power components to more efficiently assemble and test products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements that enhance productivity and product quality.
  • Assist in the development and revision of assembly procedures, contributing valuable insights to optimize workflows.
  • Participate in regular safety meetings and adhere to established safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment.
  • Contribute to the training and onboarding of new team members, sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment and tools, reporting any signs of wear, damage, or the need for maintenance.
  • Actively participate in company-wide initiatives focused on safety, operational efficiency, and building/workspace cleanliness.
  • Support and participate in the organization’s continual improvement program and conform to ISO 9001 requirements.
