About The Position

Under direct supervision, the Painter Grade 2 cleans, prepares, and paints parts, using specified procedures and techniques. This position also sets up electrostatic and air-powered paint equipment for use. The role involves inspecting incoming parts for flaws or lack of finish, scraping scale and slag, and grinding away rust. The painter will apply primer and paint according to specifications, assist in organizing and cleaning storage areas, and maintain a neat, clean, and organized work area. All duties are to be performed safely and responsibly as assigned by lead or supervisor.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Entry level; minimum 0 to 12 months of experience.
Ability to operate hand tools and power tools related to grinding and buffing.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to work independently and learn quickly; self-starter/self-motivated individual.
Must be able to provide an assortment of tools in a rollaway toolbox and steel-toed boots.

Responsibilities

Inspects incoming parts for flaws or lack of finish.
Scrapes scale and slag from parts and grinds away rust.
Treats parts with acid and washes with solvent.
Applies primer to parts and paint in accordance with AMSI and/or customer specifications and requirements.
Assists in organizing and cleaning storage areas to maintain efficient operation.
Maintains a neat, clean and organized work area.
Performs all assigned duties in a safe and responsible manner.
Performs duties as assigned by lead or supervisor.
